Normalmouth[edit]

Normalmouth was using the 194.60.85.4 IP address to support his edit warring on 19 January, 2006. It was discovered and he used the sockpuppet Goatmix to remove the sockpuppet template from that account. He subsequently owned up to being the operator of the Goatmix account.

Unfortunately for him, he has clearly thought that we would have forgotten about these old accounts, and he is using 194.60.85.4 to vote in a current Page move discussion. Mais oui! 11:35, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additional information needed I'm not sure what you want here. If it is as you say then he's up to his old tricks and you don't need our confirmation. Otherwise you're asking us to "out" his IP address, which we won't do except in extreme cases. Mackensen (talk) 16:52, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What I want is the User to be reprimanded for sockpuppetry and for his dishonest behaviour at that Talk page to be noted by an Admin and his IP vote to be struck through, with appropriate note by an Admin.
Is the whole point of CheckUser not to stop dishonest Users from disrupting Wikipedia to serve their own purposes? I do consider using a sockpuppet to vote twice in a Move vote to be serious vandalism (although perhaps not "extreme"), but if CheckUser does not, then fair enough. He has, to all intents and purposes, "outed" his own IP address himself. --Mais oui! 10:58, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The release of an IP address is considered very serious. It seems as though the alleged sockpuppetry is this user and that IP address. If it's a fairly obvious case of sockpuppetry then you don't need our say-so (furthermore, IPs aren't allowed to vote anyway). Mackensen (talk) 14:04, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I did not make any comments while logged out. Alas, Mais oui! is determined behave aggressively toward me (and a number of other users by the looks of things). The irony is that this accusation has come about following me adhering to the correct procedures for renaming a page. Mais oui!, by contrast, renamed it from the original title without any discussion. Normalmouth 04:33, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
