Suspected sockpuppets

Ferahgo the Assassin was site banned by Arbcom for proxy editing for Captain Occam in Race and intelligence and articles related to the topic. Zeromus1 recently received an indef block (reviewed and upheld by Arbcom) as another of the Captain Occam/Ferahgo puppets.

While appealing the block, Zeromus1 admitted knowing Yfever off wiki prior to registering.[1][2] Zeromus1's first edit was to seek Yfever's assistance on Yfever's talk page and came exactly one day after an R/I article Yfever created was deleted. This fits Captain Occam's MO->[3] (the message left on Ferahgo's talk page was intended to deceive. Ferahgo had not yet edited the page in question, and it would be a year or so of wp:TE and innocent protestations before the admission came of their coordinating off-wiki[4]). Quite soon after registering, Yfever was involved in disputes in R/I. One was an odd and contentious recreation of the previously deleted How Much Can We Boost IQ and Scholastic Achievement?. While the current article has been modified since Yfever first recreated it, initially Yfever lifted it nearly word-for-word from a userfied copy then available at User:Ephery/How Much Can We Boost IQ and Scholastic Achievement?. And Yfever's cut/pasting from one page to the other was done in a piecemeal fashion, as if to suggest the text were being freshly composed rather than lifted from the userfy. Captain Occam contributed half the content to that original page before his topic ban. Despite her topic ban in effect at the time, Ferahgo indicated she was following R/I closely and provided a demonstrably false rationale to justify how Yfever discovered the userfy.[5] Yfever raised sock suspicions [6] but a previous SPI looked into Mikemikev as the puppeteer, not Captain Occam/Ferahgo.

Following an R/I topic ban,[7] Boothello persisted in R/I related frays to join Ferahgo and/or other CO proxies in echoing Captain Occam/Ferahgo's complaints about Mathsci, and to defend Yfever.[8], [9],[10], [11] Boothello seems to have abandoned the account when evidence was uncovered that he and Ferahgo were coordinating R/I edits after her topic ban and prior to Boothello's.(Revealed by the cut/paste oops shown in these edits[12] [13] )

At least two other editors have been identified as proxies recruited off-wiki in this manner. Boothello's involvement with Ferahgo is evident now, and Yfever fits the mold to a T. Neither of them are currently editing, but I think it's important to note these two now that it's apparent just how intransigent the problems are. Note-I apparently overlooked hitting post on my earlier attempt to clarify this. Ferahgo's site ban is not simply the result of her proxying for CO, and I didn't express that well, technically. She is site banned. So is CO. So is Zeromus1. Several other of their proxies are topic banned. It's more accurate to say the long running procession of disruptions, rather than simply proxying for CO, culminated in the site ban. Professor marginalia (talk) 03:58, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It far from clear what the Professor wants here. Sockpuppetry is the abuse of multiple accounts, and the equation of Zeromus1 (talk · contribs) with Ferahgo the Assassin (talk · contribs) has already been established and acted on. The Prof is not, I think, claiming that the other two are accounts are the same person, nor does he point to any abuse. The only concrete allegation is that they know each other off-wiki. There is no prohibition on users knowing each other off-wiki. There is no prohibition on users holding the same views. There is no prohibition on users disagreeing with the Professor. There is no prohibition on users disagreeing with Elen. What does the Prof say that these people have done on Wikipedia that is actually disruoting Wikipedia, why does he think this is the right forum to bring those complaints to, and what does he want done about it?

Our article on Manchester United F.C. is edited by hundreds of people around the world who are all fans of the same football team. Thankfully, far fewer people hold the same views as Captain Occam, but this does not mean that they are all him. In this case, Yfever, from the handful of edits I can see, is on the high seas apparently, while Zeromus - who has been checked following his block - lives in the same city of 10 million people as Feragho. Can't even comment on the third chap, he hasn't edited for months. I suspect that rather than all be the same person, they may be a very small number of people. which doesn't stop them being very disruptive. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 23:53, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
