This is the WikiProject assessment department "Top-Importance" page belonging to Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror. It is used as a basis for assigning "Top" importance to existing articles.
Top-importance is a designation used to indicate that an article is core to this WikiProject and the understanding of the horror genre.
N.b. Please bear in mind that the aim is not to assess the relative qualities of the articles themselves, but to determine how important (of what priority to the horror genre) it is the have an article about the subject in this on-line encyclopedia or any variant of it.
Suggest a candidate for inclusion
|
To suggest a candidate to be promoted to Top-importance, please follow these guidelines.
- Click edit for the Candidates for inclusion section.
- Find the alphabetical location for your candidate by first letter of article name (regardless of if it is a person's name).
- Place the following therein:
=== [[Candidate name]] === :: Summary status ( 1 for | 0 against ) Top class — nominated on ((subst:CURRENTTIME)), ((subst:CURRENTDAYNAME)) ((subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME)) ((subst:CURRENTDAY)), ((subst:CURRENTYEAR)) ([[UTC]]) * '''Top''' - any notes you may wish to include. ~~~~
Replace Candidate name header with the name of the article you wish to suggest. In the Summary status , the 1 for is you, as nominator; the subst lines will substitute the appropriate information into the text. Replace the any notes you may wish to include. with any notes you may wish to include or remove that part completely.

Vote on a candidate for inclusion
|
To vote for or against a candidate to be promoted to Top-importance, please follow these guidelines.
- Click edit for the subsection detailing the candidate in the Candidates for inclusion section.
- Place the following under the last vote in the subsection:
To vote for: * '''Top''' - any notes you may wish to include. ~~~~
To vote against: * '''High''' - any notes you may wish to include. ~~~~ or: * '''Mid''' - any notes you may wish to include. ~~~~ or: * '''Low''' - any notes you may wish to include. ~~~~
Replace the any notes you may wish to include. with any notes you may wish to include or remove that part completely.
- Change the
Summary status (located directly under the subsection's heading) to reflect your vote. Either increase the for number by 1 if you voted for inclusion or increase the against number by 1 if you voted against inclusion.

Please keep to starting the entry with emboldened class names (i.e. "Top", "High", "Mid" or "Low") only so it is clear for those following and so that the rating is clear (terms such as "promote" are relative in this context and thus shouldn't be used).
- Candidates will be approved or rejected based on the following system
- Approved if the candidate has more for votes than against votes after one month.
- Rejected if the candidate has an equal number or more against votes than for votes after one month.

I'm listing below some of the articles that have already been assigned top importance but which were never discussed here.
- Summary status ( 2 for | 0 against ) Top class — nominated on 20:20, Sunday September 11, 2011 (UTC)
- Top - Original assessment by User:ONEder Boy on 3 March 2009.
- Top - This is a no-brainer. I doubt that any single actor had a greater impact on the development of horror films. Aside from leading the charge at Universal in the early '30s, he had major roles in some of the RKO films of the '40s, served as the *only* active horror icon in the early '50s, and starred in a number of important films with Vincent Price during the '60s. - Summary status ( 1 for | 1 against ) Top class — nominated on 20:20, Sunday September 11, 2011 (UTC)
- Top - Original assessment by User:ONEder Boy on 28 March 2009.
- Mid - Although King Kong was hugely influential throughout the film industry, I'm against assigning it top importance simply because most of the sources I've seen don't list it as a horror film. The "monster" in the film, rather than horrifying, acts in many ways as a protagonist. If the film belongs in the project at all, I'd classify it as Mid. - Summary status ( 2 for | 0 against ) Top class — nominated on 20:20, Sunday September 11, 2011 (UTC)
- Top - Original assessment by User:ONEder Boy on 4 April 2009.
- Top - Much like the vampire, this is one of the key monsters and in horror tradition. Although not quite as often fictionalized as the vampire, it's still fundamental enough to the genre to deserve top importance. Sp4cetiger (talk) 00:15, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Top - This book has been reinterpreted and remade so many times, it's hard to think of it as anything but fundamental to the genre. Sp4cetiger (talk) 00:15, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
