Extortion attempt, very Orangemoody.[edit]

Hi. I saw that this is the place to report this.

I created a page here:

Draft:Brander Group

It's sitting in the queue to be reviewed.

Someone who claims to be User:AlanM1 reached out on LinkedIn offering to approve the page in exchange for a $200 in a crypto transaction. And now is demanding the money and threatening to delete the page.

I don't know if this person is actually the user. They have a Linkedin profile calling themselves "wikipedia administrator, 17 years." Also with the name Alan.

(redacted)

I have screenshots of the whole encounter, but I don't see where to add them here.

@Samnyasa: For the record, I am not the person who contacted you, and do not accept money for anything I do on Wikipedia, which isn't much any more. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 23:01, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying. I figured that was the case, but wasn't sure whether to tag you. Samnyasa (talk) 20:50, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Are you still interested in hearing about this? The scammer person using your name still appears to be active. Samnyasa (talk) 01:28, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
