Zahrah S Khan ( also known as Sasha Agha ) born on January 1, 1995, is a actress and singer based in India.[1]
Zahrah S Khan was born to the Agha & Khan families, who have careers in film and sports.
Zahrah’s maternal lineage has worked in the Indian film industry which dates to the 1940s when her Great-Grandfather Jugal Kishore Mehra started making films. On the other hand, Anwar Begum, Jugal Kishore Mehra’s wife starred in the first ever “Heer Ranjha” (an Indian version of Romeo & Juliet). It was therefore only natural for Zahrah’s grandmother Nasreen Mehra, to make her debut with the director AK Kardar in the Film “Shahjehan” opposite the actor Sehgal. Zahrah’s Mother Salma Agha made her debut as an actress and singer with BR Chopra, whose family now owns a Bollywood production house that is known for having co-produced 'Grace of Monaco' with Nicole Kidman and Tim Roth that opened the Cannes Film Festival a couple of years ago, as well as, ‘Titli’, part of the official Selection. Salma Agha’s very 1st film “Nikaah” went on to become a box office hit & a film that ran in a theatre for 5 years continuously, earning her a Filmfare Award for Best Singer.[2][3]
Zahrah’s paternal side hails from a sports background and her great-grandfather Nasrullah Khan was a squash coach to the Maharaja of Raigadh and then at the University of Ali Garh. Post that he became the Viceroy Lord Vavel’s squash coach who was in charge after the Queen. He even trained Jonah Barrington and had also created the first squash ball in India before the partition.[4][5] Zahrah’s Father Rahmat Khan himself was a squash coach who trained British open champions in squash as well as the Indian National champions. Zahrah’s uncle Jahangir Khan was a 10-time British Open winner and was personally trained by her father Rahmat Khan.[6][7]
Zahrah S Khan made her debut in singles with the song Khud se Zyada[8] and then she took singing as a full-fledged career and sang Kya Karte The Saajna for the movie Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan as her first playback in Bollywood.[9]
