The Battle of Vasylkiv was a military battle between Russia and Ukraine which began on 26 February 2022, during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.[3]
In the early morning of 26 February, Russian paratroopers began landing near the city of Vasylkiv, just 40 kilometers south of Kyiv. They tried to secure Vasylkiv Air Base. Heavy fighting between the Russian paratroopers and Ukrainian defenders occurred in the city.[4][5]
