The 1875 California gubernatorial election was held on September 7, 1875, to elect the governor of California.
William Irwin, alongside former governor Romualdo Pacheco were favored to become the next elected governor of California, since Newton Booth the 11th Governor of California, resigned his office to become a senator.[1]
