Canadian socialists have generally been involved in one of a number of Canadian political parties including various Labour and socialist parties in the early part of the twentieth century, the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, the New Democratic Party and, on the radical left, the Communist Party of Canada, the Marxist–Leninist Party of Canada, the Labor-Progressive Party, the League for Socialist Action, and various Trotskyist groups among others.

This list includes some figures who have identified themselves as "social democrats" rather than socialists.
