Proposed deletion of Category:Baltic countries and territories[edit]

It is currently being proposed that Category:Baltic countries and territories be deleted. This article is related to that category. The relevant discussion is located at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2020 January 8#Countries and territories by language family. The deletion discussion would benefit from input from editors with a knowledge of and interest in Baltic mythology. Krakkos (talk) 12:02, 13 January 2020 (UTC) Would it be wise to include a section on those who came and eradicated Baltic Mythology from the area?--TheRealMithrandir (talk) 00:12, 1 September 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

I propose merging Prussian mythology into Baltic mythology. The beliefs of the ancient Prussians are largely unknown and reconstructed essentially only on the basis of what we know about the beliefs of other Baltic peoples. They are generally not distinguished in the literature as a separate belief/myth system. Authors generally speak of "Baltic mythology" as a single entity, at most certain characteristics of individual regions/ tribes.Marcelus (talk) 16:22, 8 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Strongest oppose. There is very little authentic info about Prussian mythology, but the article discusses the little that is known about Prussian mythology (and nothing about other Baltic mythologies) based on the late and unreliable sources of Sudovian Book and Simon Grunau. Prussian mythology was discussed in medieval sources. Baltic mythology is a modern attempt by researchers to synthesize available info from Prussian, Lithuanian, Latvian mythologies and then incorporate it into the Indo-European mythology.
