This article is POV and doesn't discuss the full history of the act. Tfine80 29 June 2005 03:52 (UTC)
I'm inclined to agree, and it could also use a general cleanup. Marked it. =\ Viserys89 01:16, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
What is US Family Unity? I've never heard of this group. There are plenty more noteworthy groups working to change these provisions, What merits mention of this one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.168.41.182 (talk) 13:29, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I too question the mention of US Family Unity. Neither Google nor Google News has even a single hit on them. Tomday (talk) 23:38, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
The article has the immigrant's viewpoint a bit over-represented whilst not discussing much the impact or ramifications of the law in the US. It could stand to gain by expanding this viewpoint a bit more. As a result, it seems as though the article is taking a negative stance against the law by only including ramifications against immigrants (such as detrimental effects on mental health discussed). While these are valid, more perspectives should be present to present a fully neutral article. One last piece of critique concerns the last paragraph in the introduction about border fortification, which requires a proper citation --Luuile (talk) 03:24, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
I propose merging Immigration and Nationality Act Section 287(g) into this article. That is a short article on one section of this legislation. This article is short enough that adding the material would not make it overly long. They are obviously closely related topics. Will Beback talk 20:22, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't think this should be merged. 287(g) is a whole topic unto itself -- it just needs someone to flesh it out. The 287(g) program is becoming a bigger and bigger issue in immigration law, so I think it'll grow large enough to need its own topic ultimately. Just an opinion from a wiki-n00b. Thanks! Is the correct abbreviation "IIRIRA" or "IIRAIRA"? The first paragraph of the article uses both. DarthTaper (talk) 22:27, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
The content in this section is factually incorrect because the Dept. of Homeland Security wasn't even founded until 2002. 173.149.124.241 (talk) 05:12, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

The Impact section should be removed.
The phrase "escalating their fear that they would be deported" is non-specific, and irrelevant in an article that focuses on the law's definition of an aggravated felony, or restrictions on in-state tuition rates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jguttenburg (talk • contribs) 13:21, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
