Suspected sockpuppets
[edit]Is it normal that both accounts edit the same articles one after the other? Ориенталист (talk) 07:04, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. See Defending yourself against claims.
- Additional information needed - Ориенталист, you are going to have to present some substantial evidence than this for us to be able to take action. I see that the two editors have edited quite a few of the same articles, but that could be indicative of two people with similar interests. If there is something specific that makes you suspect that they are operated by the same person, please explain. Girth Summit (blether) 14:36, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- Ориенталист, actually that isn't a violation in and of itself. Per WP:LEGITSOCK, there are lots of reasons why one might want to have a second account (I have one myself), and that talk page declaration properly links the two accounts. I don't see any problem with it, unless you have reason to suspect that they are using them abusively, such as engaging in an edit war or trying to pass themselves off as two people in a talk page discussion. Do you have reason to suspect WP:BADSOCK editing? Girth Summit (blether) 14:44, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- The A poor son of Adam and Adigabrek have both edited Talk:Circassian_genocide, but never in the same thread, and many months apart from each other; I see no attempts on their part to present themselves as two different people. Coupled with the userpage declaration, I see no WP:BADSOCK editing in the evidence presented. Closing without action - if you see them using both accounts inappropriately, such as engaging in edit warring or contributing to the same thread without making the connection clear, come back and refile.
