Oops, looks like Darryl.jensen is the master/oldest account. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 14:59, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I realize that IPs cannot be publicly linked to users. But it may be helpful for others to note that User:47.133.248.225 suddenly showed up to revert, without comment, on Center for Immigration Studies. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 15:21, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Might be time to consider semi-protection of that page. There is clearly an attempt here by someone to influence it. Toa Nidhiki05 15:22, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple accounts all tried to interfere with the Center for Immigration Studies page to remove or de-emphasize negative content and some or all might all be sock puppets. Toa Nidhiki05 14:59, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think it may also be worthwhile to check whether the editor is a sock of the blocked user Factchecker_atyourservice. I raised those concerns in October 2018.[1] Snooganssnoogans (talk) 06:33, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Noting for the record that ModerateMikayla555 previously had the username ModerateMike729 prior to a username change at Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple/Archive239 § ModerateMike729 → ModerateMikayla555. Behavioral evidence includes the attempted addition of a George Soros conspiracy theory backed by partisan sources to the American Immigration Council article at Special:Diff/878896738, which was discussed at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 256 § Influencewatch and onenewsnow.com. — Newslinger talk 15:16, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
While I'm not familiar with Factchecker atyourservice, the user page of this account also contains a reference to a George Soros conspiracy theory. One behavioral quirk shared by ModerateMikayla555 and Factchecker atyourservice is that both accounts claim to be aligned with one end of the political spectrum on their user pages, while making edits that cast their own purported positions in a negative light and strongly favor the opposite end of the political spectrum. — Newslinger talk 16:16, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've certainly noticed this with moderate Mike. @Drmies: someone needs to post below that this has been CU confirmed - I know that another CU has checked it also but this can't be closed without one of you. I'm not going to do CU but if you don't want to and the clerks are busy I can tag. Doug Weller talk 16:44, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Factchecker atyourservice is not currently blocked, but they were under a topic ban from post-1932 US politics when the ModerateMikayla555 account was created. — Newslinger talk 16:46, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, CU won't work with Factchecker but I'm convinced, see the interaction analyser results[2] I know the edits to Club Kids are 5 years apart, but it's all too much to be a coincidence. His topic ban appeal was denied last June and he was blocked at the ssame time for a week after violating it. Arguing against this, the time periods they edit seem different and Darryl.jensen was around at the same time as Factchecker. Doug Weller talk 17:09, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what precisely goes in these "CU" checks, but it's worthwhile also to check if any of the IPs used happen to be the same IPs as for the anti-immigration think tanks in DC (because the editing of these accounts seems laser-focused on propping up the network of Tanton-founded anti-immigration think tanks and adding negative info to non-partisan and liberal migration think tanks). Snooganssnoogans (talk) 18:03, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Would it possible to also check Alison_Alice and Griffy013? The editing profile of these two editors fit the profiles of the other socks. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 13:09, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

For some reason, these accounts emphasize that they're super-moderate, as well as seem to have in common that they're super pro-LGBT while also overwhelmingly editing the Wikipedia articles for anti-immigration groups. After I notified Alison Alice that I had mentioned her on this page, she immediately removed text on her user page describing herself as a "liberal" who does not "always agree with the Democratic Party" and who is for "queer liberation"[3]. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 13:40, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It may also be worthwhile to check Pacificus who has a similar editing profile as the other editors, and who was coincidentally weeks ago temporarily blocked by Berean_Hunter for abusing multiple accounts. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 01:12, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/ModerateMike729/Archive exists. That SPI (in which Molarcons was suspected of being a sockpuppet of ModerateMike729, but was instead confirmed to be a sockpuppet of Architect 134) should probably be merged here or moved to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Architect 134/Archive. — Newslinger talk 02:47, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

This is my first time at SPI so apologies if I have formatted this improperly. Center for Immigration Studies has been brigaded by SPI and sockpuppet accounts devoted to removing any claims that the organization is anti-immigration as well as claims that it is affiliated with white nationalist. A recent sockpuppet investigation uncovered at least three sockpuppet accounts all tag-teaming to try and create a fake consensus for these changes; all have been blocked. Recently, several other suspicious accounts have appeared, and disturbing external evidence indicates that these accounts might have some ties to a banned user.

The ModerateMikayla555 socks all shared a common pattern, as observed by Newslinger: the accounts claimed to be politically moderate or liberal, but their edits contradicted their claims. In the case of Alison Alice, her account previously included this claim:

A lot of my editing is political, because it's something I'm passionate about that gives me a break from theatre. Although my views could broadly be described as liberal, I don't always agree with the Democratic Party. I'm especially concerned about climate change and queer liberation. The latter two are what sometimes put me at odds with other liberals, but I'm always open to debate.

This remark was removed around the time editors had discovered this same pattern (claims to be liberal, but edits to promote right-wing groups) in the sock accounts.

Alison Alice has also specifically endorsed the proposals the socks made, requested their proposals be BOLDLY adopted, and has recently attempted to promote the exact same agenda these editors had on the talk page. She has made edits on other pages affiliated with far-right groups, including John Tanton (who is mentioned as a white nationalist and eugenicist on the Center for Immigration Studies page, which the socks attempted to remove), Social Contract Press, Roy Beck, and VDARE.

Additionally, it was raised to our attention in the last hour that several reddit posts ([4] and [5], both at r/WikiInAction) have been created targeting this page. One of the reddit posts is an exact match to a post Alison Alice made on Wikipedia. While reddit does not offer a timestamp, both posts were made yesterday and the reddit user who posted it has claimed it is their post; this reddit user claims to be User:Abd, a banned user who is a notorious online far-right conspiracy theorist that has frequently defended far-right fringe groups.

I do not request an investigation on any user lightly, but the editing behavior Alison Alice has displayed is consistent with other sockpuppets on this page, and the post she made being also posted on reddit by someone known for defending far-right groups is also consistent with her editing. Given the current assault this page is under by sockpuppet accounts, I think it is important that we determine if she is a sock or not - and if she is a sock, if she is a sock of ModerateMikayla or Abd, or both. Pinging involved editors on talk: Snooganssnoogans, Jorm, Britishfinance, Doug Weller, Nableezy, Dumuzid, and Aquillion. Also pinging Simonm223, Bbb23, and Volunteer Marek, who were involved at the first ModerateMike SPI, and NorthBySouthBaranof and Drmies, who were involved at the ModerateMikayla SPI - the two accounts were the same. Toa Nidhiki05 01:28, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Per the Tanton stuff, my only point was that TAnton himself, CIS, and CIs founder all say Tanton wasn't involved. Seems noteworthy that his role is disputed, I'd hardly call that defending a white supremacist. Per reddit, I should've labeled it. I saw the discussion and cut and paste it. I have no connection to Abd. And per my own bio, I don't even really get what you're saying. I'd describe myself politically as neoliberal, and think most of my edits have reflected that view. Before getting involved in this CIS scuffle, I've edited a range of political topics. Feel free to look yourself. This all feels kind of unhinged. Alison Alice (talk) 02:27, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Look, I have a dif of you changing you stated political views around the time it became apparent socks were doing that. Don't try and gaslight here by questioning my sanity when multiple other people have suggested a link. Toa Nidhiki05 02:32, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No collusion. Rigged witch hunt. I literally made my bio even further left lmao. If I were trying to hide my political views, I would've scrubbed them. This is genuinely unhinged, and "gaslight" is absurd after I'm the one being told by six differnt people that I'm a liar and a sock and a racist and [insert other insult du jure here]. This user became active around the time Darryl.jensen's last few socks were banned (their first edit is slightly before the last one, but as seen in the archives, Darryl.jensen has been using multiple socks at once for a while now.)

They rapidly leapt into the topic areas where Darryl.jensen was previously in a dispute and continued to push their preferred version. For example:

On Bob Bland: Previous sock added antisemitism accusations,GeauxDevils added the same antisemitism accusations, almost identically-placed.

On Center for_Immigration Studies: They have repeatedly, across multiple and socks, disputed Tanton being the founder and being a white nationalist; GeauxDevils quickly picked up the same argument and pushed it in the lead (here as well.) In the latter edits, note how they carefully establish how they came to the article to avoid being spotted as a sock, combined with Darryl.jensen's typical MO of claiming to be neutral and unbiased while then aggressively pushing more drastic changes with a misleading edit summary in the hopes that others will not notice.

Assuming this is confirmed to be a sock... given that this user frequently employs multiple socks at once, it might be worth checking for other obvious socks if possible. --Aquillion (talk) 06:01, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since the sockpuppet check on Factcheckeratyourservice wasn't conducted the last time around (because the account is stale), I'll limit my focus to MaximumIdeas: (i) The editor MaximumIdeas was created at the same time that the sockmaster was running a large ring of socks on the Center for Immigration Studies page (March 2019). On the very first day of MaximumIdeas's editing, the user removed the exact same content that the sockring had sought to remove[6][7] (ii) There is considerable overlap in editing between MaximumIdeas and the sockring[8], in particular the ModerateMikayla account, (iii) On the Race and Intelligence page, MaximumIdeas adds very similar content as the sockring on whether differences in IQ between racial groups is heritable or due to environmental factors (both accounts seek to portray it as if the scientific community is divided on the subject)[9][10], (iv) Much like Factcheckeratyourservice, MaximumIdeas shows a significant interest in crime/immigration as it relates to Sweden (ctrl+F "swed")[11][12], (v) I'd like to note that "Race and Intelligence"-related pages have a lot of history with sockpuppetry. Note particularly the overlap at Vox (political party) with another Darryl.jensen sock, ModerateMikayla555 - it's a fairly obscure topic not obviously connected to their other overlaps outside of the very broad rubric of right-wing politics. --Aquillion (talk) 00:10, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed Factchecker_atyourservice. Please don't report accounts that haven't edited in two years, especially if they've already been declined.
The best I can give you for MaximumIdeas is  Possible. They edit from the same large urban conglomeration as the IPs checked in past cases. This is not a strong result, I would rely on behaviour. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 20:12, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
