In January 2024, the eight-time Chief Minister of Bihar, India Nitish Kumar of the Mahagathbandhan block resigned amid rumours of him joining the opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA).[1] He joined the National democratic Alliance and took the oath as the Ninth Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha as Deputy Chief Ministers.[2][3][4]
Nitish Kumar left the INDIA bloc and rejoined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, citing internal issues within the opposition alliance. Allegations against the Congress party for attempting to capture INDIA bloc leadership, disagreements over leadership positions, and delays in seat-sharing talks were factors influencing Kumar's decision.[5]
