The Central District of Ahar County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان اهر)[3] is in East Azerbaijan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Ahar.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population was 125,253 in 29,323 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 129,022 people in 34,244 households.[6] At the latest census in 2016, the district had 133,829 inhabitants living in 40,048 households.[2]
After the 2016 census, Qeshlaq Rural District was separated from the district in the establishment of Fandoqlu District, which was divided into two rural districts.[7]
