Production

In January 2024, Warner Music Group and Giraffe Pakistan announced a partnership.[3] This deal ensures that music produced for Season 15 of Coke Studio Pakistan will be distributed by Giraffe Music under exclusive license to Warner Music South Asia, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group.[4][2] However, Giraffe Pakistan, led by music producer Xulfi, remained the sole producer for Season 15, which premiered on 14 April 2024. Geo Network secured the exclusive media rights. Additionally, Spotify remains the official music streaming partner, while TikTok serves as the designated entertainment partner.[5]

In a press release, Coke Studio Pakistan underscored the collaborative nature of the season, describing it as a narrative woven with artistry and collegiality. A team of directors will helm the music videos for each original song. These directors include established figures like Zeeshan Parwez and Kamal Khan, alongside Awais Gohar, Murtaza Niaz, Jamal Rahman, and Luke Azariah.[6] During the season launch, Xulfi said, [7]

This season celebrates the enduring power of art, the power of music – the power of love, of warmth and of connection. Each story and world is built on Pakistan’s rich and diverse tapestry: both its heritage and future, fostering a sense of shared identity.

Reception

The release of the season's first track, 'Aayi Aayi,' has sparked a range of reactions.[12] Additionally, the platform's transition to a music video format alongside a revised release schedule, implemented last season, has led to discussions about potential trade-offs in terms of prioritizing visual aesthetics over the core musical experience.[13]
