The Desert Tech WLVRN, pronounced "Wolverine", is the successor to the company's MDRx bullpup weapon system. The WLVRN and its Military/Law Enforcement variant, the Sabertooth, where first showcased at the 2024 Shot Show convention in Las Vegas. [1] The rifle aimed to improve various aspects of the MDRx platform and several variants were submitted into the Next Generation Squad Weapon and Mid-Range Gas Gun (MRGG) military programs for testing and adoption.

The WLVRN was initially launched in three color options: Black, Flat Dark Earth (FDE), and Tungsten. Several calibers were supported through the various configurations possible including .223 Remington, .308 Winchester, .300 AAC Blackout, and 6.5mm Creedmoor, which barrel lengths ranging from Short-barreled rifle lengths (less than 16") to up to 20" in length, depending on the caliber.

Variants

Sabertooth

The military / Law Enforcement version of the WLVRN, featuring select-fire capabilities.

Micron

A modified version of the MDRx/WLVRN, featuring an extremely short handguard to minimize the rifle's overall length. The rifle does not suffer significant shortcomings of reduced barrel length due to its inherent bullpup design.

Unnamed Submission for NGSW/MRGG Program

Unnamed Desert Tech MRGG Prototype

A variant of the WLVRN was showcased at Desert Tech's 2024 Shot Show booth, featuring a unique 6.8 caliber round that was similar to 6.5mm Creedmoor, being internally tested by Desert Tech to be in-line with the specifications outlined for the MRGG specification requirements. This variant also showcased a unique handguard, equipped with the I-Rail designed powered NATO Accessory Rail section and built-in battery housing.
