Sacred Heart Church^[1] is a Roman Catholic Church situated in the urban core of Bangalore, India, at the intersection of Richmond Road and Mother Teresa Road, occupying a corner property.^[2][3]

The construction of the Church was completed in 1895 by Fr. Jean-Marie Combret,^[4] who was serving as the Parish Priest at that time.^[5][6]

The Bangalore Archdiocesan Priests’ cemetery is situated in the premises of Sacred Heart Church, Richmond Road.^[7][8]

History

The Sacred Heart Church^[3] was established in the late 1870s by the Most Rev. August Chevalier MEP^[9] of the Missions Etrangeres de Paris. It started in a small bungalow on Victoria Road and later a new church was built next to the Diocesan Priest's Cemetery on Richmond Road.^[10][11][12]

The Church was officially dedicated and consecrated in December 1895 by Rev. Fr. Jean-Marie Combret MEP.^{[13][14][15][16]}
