Sacred Heart Church[1] is a Roman Catholic Church situated in the urban core of Bangalore, India, at the intersection of Richmond Road and Mother Teresa Road, occupying a corner property.[2][3]

The construction of the Church was completed in 1895 by Fr. Jean-Marie Combret,[4] who was serving as the Parish Priest at that time.[5][6]

The Bangalore Archdiocesan Priests’ cemetery is situated in the premises of Sacred Heart Church, Richmond Road.[7][8]

History

The Sacred Heart Church[3] was established in the late 1870s by the Most Rev. August Chevalier MEP[9] of the Missions Etrangeres de Paris. It started in a small bungalow on Victoria Road and later a new church was built next to the Diocesan Priest's Cemetery on Richmond Road.[10][11][12]

The Church was officially dedicated and consecrated in December 1895 by Rev. Fr. Jean-Marie Combret MEP.[13][14][15][16]
