Jenny Tinmouth is an English motorcycle racer, currently competing in the 2011 British Superbike Championship, the first woman to ever do so, and the fastest women ever to go around the Isle of Man TT course.
Born in Chester, she was raised and lives in Ellesmere Port. Wanting to race but not having the funds or knowledge to do so, aged 19 she trained as a motorcycle mechanic, and began working in a Chester dealership at weekends. After fully qualifiying in 2000, she then undertook factory training in Japan at all the major manufacturers, and at Triumph motorcycles in Hinkley, Leicestershire. A qualified MOT inspector, in 2005 Tinmouth and a collegaue started the indepedent motorcycle maintenance facility Two Wheel Workshop.[1]
Tinmouth began club racing in 1999, first racing at national level in 2003 in the British 125cc Championship. But while competing at Cadwell Park that year, she broke her arm, ankle and collar bone in one crash. In 2008 she joined the British Supersport 600 Championship, competing as a privateer in a few rounds.
In 2009, she competed in her first full season, racing a Sorrymate.com sponsored Honda CBR600RR. The same sponsor team also backed her in racing both the 600 and a Honda Fireblade at the Isle of Man TT, where she set a new record for the fastest lap by a female competitor at 116.8 miles per hour (188.0 km/h) average, beating the previous Guinness World record of Maria Costello.
In 2010 she became the first woman to ever win a British Supersport Cup race, finishing the year third in the final privateer standings. In November at Cadwell Park, she won the final round of the Hottrax British Endurance Championship.
For 2011, Timouth will compete in the British Superbike Championship, riding for Splitlath Motorsport on an Aprilia RSV4.[2]
