Selected image nominations

The gravesite of Francesc Sabaté Llopart (1915-1960), also known as "El Quico". A veteran of the Spanish Civil War, Sabaté was among the last surviving insurgents fighting the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, having survived until 1960. The inscription reads "Anarchist: Died for Liberty".

The Revolutionary Insurrectionary Army of Ukraine was the main military force of the "Free Territory", formed by anarchists during the Russian Civil War. Commanded by Nestor Makhno (center), Simon Karetnik (left), and Fedir Shchus (right), its formation stemmed from the Black Guards, a network of anarchist militias.
A plaque honouring the dead of the Paris Commune in Père Lachaise cemetery. The Commune was a government that briefly ruled Paris in 1871. An early example of socialist revolution, its participants spanned many different philosophies, and included early mutualists. Its brief successes and final defeat inspired a new generation of European anarchists.
