Armenians in Shamakhi
The Hakluyt source does not mention Armenians when discussing Shamakhi. Instead, it discusses a local Turkic king who welcomes the traveler in a Turkic (Azeri) language. On the other hand, the source from Sale et al. does not claim that Armenians were the sole majority. It states that the population was “chiefly Armenians and strangers”. In this context, “strangers” likely refers to Turks and other groups residing in the city. Also removed unreferenced caption of OleariusTags: Reverted2017 wikitext editor
