So, Wagner was her illegitimate father's father-in-law— what's that called? A "father in law outside of the law"? My current solution is not optimal but I wanted to make it clear how the info was relevant to the articles subject as soon as it was introduced. too much background without any relation to the subject can easily confuse and drive away readers.
