Can anyone vouch for the "'Italic text" usage of "event" on this page? If the content is accurate, I think it should be moved to some article on physics, where it can be explained in more depth. Right now, this page is like a disambiguation page, except with no in-depth articles to refer to. -Ryguasu 08:21 Nov 12, 2002 (UTC)
In philosophy the topic of events has been important and controversial, especially in the last forty years or so. See http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/events/. I started to incorporate this into the article but, being a Wikipedia neophyte, gave up (I got confused about what to do with "event(philosophy)." -Jyoshimi Jan 22, 2006.
I defend the usage of event as opposed to phenomenon. The systematic substitution of a four-syllable word for a two-syllable word need not turn into a campaign to rename the Portal:Current events, yet that would be a logical result of the current campaign. --Ancheta Wis 03:36, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
As an example of a physics usage, in a Geiger counter or a clock the clicks or ticks are referred to as events, in common English, but not usually as phenomena unless there was something notable about a specific click or tick recorded in the instrument. --Ancheta Wis 03:36, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Needs an entry for cultural events, such as concerts, art performances, theater play, etc. Agnerf (talk) 19:38, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
I find it strange that no accident is found in the list, since it is defined as an undesired event. 88.142.142.117 (talk) 22:23, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
