What does the date range in the first sentence: "Ion is an ancient Greek play by Euripides (414-412 BC)." mean? The dates the play was written? The time it was performed? When its fictional timeline was set? -- Mikeblas 15:11, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

The article gives no indication of what Euripedes may have intended when he wrote the play. Edith Hamilton, in her famous MYTHOLOGY, speculates that it is a veiled attack on traditional Greek religion, depicting the supposedly dazzling Apollo as a coward and a rapist.50.180.19.238 (talk) 03:38, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
