Lincoln and Douglas were actually both opposed to the Lecompton constitution... AnonMoos 22:09, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Lecompton played a major historical role as the seat of the pro-slavery Kansas faction during Bleeding Kansas in the 1850s and embraces that history today.
Is the article saying that the residents of Lecompton believe in the merits of slavery? Can someone please clarify this? I tend to think this must be a POV statement added in as personal commentary. Beginning 02:01, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
IMHO, this is a great article (both informative and well written) but the paragraph which starts "The Bleeding Kansas caused . . . " seems to have been added later by someone other than the original author. The paragraph introduces a new subject, "Bleeding Kansas", without any explanatory material, makes statements which are confusing (as the above comment indicates), and generally lacks the professional quality of the rest of the article. I recommend the paragraph be removed . . . I'm just not brave enough to do it. 67.172.153.122 (talk) 20:17, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Lecompton was one of two capitols during the territory stage of Kansas. The other was Topeka. Both thought they were the legitimate capital. Also, the Lecompton Constitution was a major debate because it did not adequetly represent the entire state. It was drafted by the Lecompton legislature, and unratified by Free Soil areas of the state who did not receive a chance to vote. That should be cleared up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.184.36.229 (talk) 15:16, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Legally it is, but a city of 500? Come on. It's a village, or a town, with the historical status of city. Please review https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lecompton%2C_Kansas&type=revision&diff=986815478&oldid=986523866 Do I have any support? deisenbe (talk) 09:44, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
