I don't think there's any evidence of Jess being beaten by his mother, so I'm proposing to revise this entry. However, I'm happy to be contradicted if any contributors have spotted credible evidence of this backstory which I've missed. I also think the interpretation of Rory and Lane's dialogue in 4.22 seems over-elaborate and perhaps offers too much opinion. --LadderCrime (talk) 10:16, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I combined Louise and Madeline because they're inseparable and their descriptions were exactly parallel. —Tamfang 20:12, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
I love the show, have some DVDs of it at home, but I fear none of the Gilmore Girls characters currently establish notability as outlined in WP:FICTION. One way to keep the articles for each character is to trim the plot and then add significant real-world information, like e.g. Boone Carlyle of Lost. Another way is, as I propose here, to merge them into a list like List of 7th Heaven characters. Individual characters can be broken out into their own pages again as soon as significant real-world information is included. The page histories allow the resurrection of old information easily. Unless there is any opposition, I'll start the merger soon. I have already merged many minor characters into this list here, which prevents them from being nominated for deletion right-away. I acn also help with a transwiki, if someone wants to keep the information somewhere off-wikipedia. Opinions? – sgeureka t•c 14:15, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Is it worth mentioning that Lorelai's and Rory's macabre speculations, when they learn that Richard's parents were second cousins, are mistaken? The danger of inbreeding is duplication of harmful recessive alleles, which would not affect Richard's descendants because they only get one set of genes from him. And by the way I've never heard of a legal bar to marriage between second cousins. —Tamfang (talk) 08:03, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
The warm and personable characters in Gilmore Girls draw the viewer into their world. And while it may seem inappropriate to some for people and places of fiction to be so comprehensively documented in this context, I disagree. As long the authors of these pages acknowledge that the people and places are fictional, and do not let themselves or others believe they are real, what's the harm?
The Wikipedia format is perfect for the Gilmoreverse. As encyclepedia, it provides a method for recreating a fictional place, in a manner that makes it seem real. The Wiki expands the knowledge base by bringing fans together who add new details, further bringing into focus the fictional world. However, there must be some structure to how these pages are created and maintained.
Not all places and people deserve their own (vanity) page. Therefore, I propose a compromise. Vanity pages for all major people and places. Aggregate pages for people and places organized by place. See below:
Vanity Page YES - If the actor's name appeared in the opening credits of the show throughout any season
Vanity Page YES - Locations of significance in the show
Merged Page YES - Minor characters organized by location
Merged Page YES - Places and things associated with a location of signficance
That's my opinion. I love Gilmore Girls; these pages are fun and bring insight to the show. My favorite is the Stars Hollow page because my company has several clients in Connecticut. Speculating the location of Stars Hollow in reference to real towns is amusing.
Let's preserve the spirit of the Gilmoreverse by keeping vanity pages for major people and places and consolidating pages about minor people and places then grouping them by location.

Should Kirk really be a main character? He seems decidedly minor to me. Other characters that appear about as often (Jackson, Mrs. Kim) are under "major recurring characters". Unless he has his own plots and appears a lot during seasons 4, 5 or 6 I don't think he should be under "main". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.191.22.133 (talk) 20:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
he wasn't in it that much in the first four seasons —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.203.179.232 (talk) 19:44, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Could anyone add Rory's two artsy new friends Lucy and Olivia (quote: „Genius!“) from Season 7? --89.244.191.55 (talk) 13:22, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
I have to say, merging these articles based on a consensus that amounts to one person who disagreed with you and nobody who agreed with you seems a poor choice. I am going to unmerge the main characters articles. Phil Sandifer (talk) 15:22, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Does someone remember which episode it was where Lorelai walks by three guys on a bench and says "Hi" to them each and to one she says "Hi, Al."? And include that in the Al section as that may be him? --WTRiker (talk) 17:16, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Chad Michael Murray left to film one tree hill didn't he?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.32.249 (talk) 15:24, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Is it just a coincidence that Ross from "Friends" has the same middle and last name as Paris? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.178.63.121 (talk) 16:50, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
WTF?she is the main charachter and she doesn't have her own wiki page! But her mother does!I think it is imoportant to create her page cuz shi is one of 2 leading characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.135.134.225 (talk) 17:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
maybe she should at least be put under recurring characters just so she is searchable if anyone is interested.
The characters descriptions could be longer...
I am going to do so changes, separete characters and stuff 200.241.255.250 04:47, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
In rewriting Rory's entry, I've added about 500 words, chiefly to address matters of her experiences at Chilton and Yale not covered in the previous entry, which focused on Rory's lovelife. It's roughly 1700 words long. Its length (and Luke's) illustrates that Lorelai's entry is a little skimpy. I'd be interested to hear if anyone thinks the page will be too long when Lorelai's entry is fleshed out, as I'm aware of the merging discussions and the notability issue in the past. The entry I rewrote didn't include many citations, most of which would be to episodes where incidents occur. I, or someone else, probably need to add them, unless there's consensus not to reference plot-points in this way. Happy to hear your thoughts (read: help!) --LadderCrime (talk) 21:32, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm moving to Discussion this paragraph that was relatively recently appended to the entry for Jess Mariano:
He was Rory Gilmore's romantic interest and the pairing have a wide fan base, which named the couple Literati due to the meaning of the word: 'persons of scholarly or literary attainments; intellectuals' which fit both Rory and himself.
I'm unclear about how fandom and shipping is meant to be referenced in Wikipedia; there's a section for it, for instance, in One Tree Hill but there's no references in Gilmore Girls main article to its fandom or 'ships. I think it would be good to reach consensus about whether the fandom and/or ships should be referenced in the main article or elsewhere, so until then this single reference should probably remain here. --LadderCrime (talk) 15:59, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
The link to Devon Michaels is to a porn actress, not to the actor who played Bill on Gilmore Girls. Someone needs to look into that. I doubt he's transsexual. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.145.185.228 (talk) 22:48, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
The character is actually named Tristin, not Tristan. See the closing credits and the DVD subtitles. --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 10:21, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Section Lane Kim states that Lane's father is never seen. Not so. He is seen once, for a second or two, when he visits, I believe, Lane's wedding: a pleasant looking elderly Korean man wearing, I believe, wire-frame glasses. He is mentioned in the dialog. Since I observed this myself while watching the entire series, it is not permissible to add to the article. If anyone else has observed this, perhaps the statement can then be deleted. I'm curious whether the season three cast photo currently featured is best photo to represent this page. Thoughts? Tepkunset (talk) 21:06, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
