It could be just me but I think that this list should be renamed to "List of Serbs". Serbians (Srbijanci?) simply means a Serb from Serbia. Plus, many people do not like the term for a number of reasons. This should be taken into consideration. The idea of having a list for Serbs from Serbia, people from Serbia as well as list with Serbs from BiH, Serbs from Croatia and so on (I am not including anything outside Europe for this one) does not seem reasonable. We already have a list made of people from Serbia, which is supposedly not a List of Serbs.

The second example is from fifth attempt List of Belarusians (ethnic group) and List of people from Belarus. I am not fan of this kind of lists, but in this case the topics are quite distinguished. • Support renaming I have not read previous opinions in depth. I have checked this article and List of people from Serbia. This article should list Serbs in general (and thus be renamed to List of Serbs), regardless of their citizenship (e.g. Serbs, Bosnian Serbs, Croatian Serbs, Kosovo Serbs etc.). The latter one is about people of all nations who were either born in Serbia or have citizenship. Term used when describing people as "Serbs" is for the people having Serbian ethnicity. Term used when describing people as "Serbians" is usually only for those living in Central Serbia or have Serbian citizenship.--AirWolf ^talk 19:46, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
• Comment – Regrettably, this turns out to be a more complicated issue. "List of Serbians" was originally created as a redirect to "Lists of Serbs", and later it was made as a stubby list containing people connected in some way with Serbia regardless of their ethnicity. "Lists of Serbs" contained most ethnic Serbs, but also persons who were not ethnic Serbs but were associated with Serbia (e.g., Rudolph Reti, Adolf Hempt, Petar Gburčik, Vasko Popa). There was a RM to move "List of Serbs" to "List of people from Serbia". Regarding the contents of this list, it was a nonsensical move, as the list contained Đorđe Branković (count) (a Serb from present-day Romania, a major precursor of early-modern Serbian historiography, who never stepped in Serbia), Valtazar Bogišić (a Catholic self-declared Serb from Dubrovnik), ethnic Serbs from Montenegro, Herzegovina, Bosnia, Croatia, etc. However, the requested move was made, so we have a funny situation of the current "List of people from Serbia" containing ethnic Serbs from all over the Balkans and the world (while by its name it should contain people only from Serbia regardless of their ethnicity), and a stubby "List of Serbians", containing some Serbs and non-Serbs from Serbia.

First, that move should be reverted, and the "List of Serbs" (after the revert) should be cleared of persons who were not ethnic Serbs (some examples are given above, and also Canadians, Australians, etc., with a partial and remote Serb ancestry, etc). Second, "List of Serbians" should be renamed as "List of people from Serbia" and expanded with more people of any ethnicity who lived in or hailed from the Republic of Serbia, but also cleared of people not so closely associated with Serbia (e.g., who could say that Zdravko Čolić is a Srbijanac?). Third, while we assume that the name "Serbians" corresponds with the Serbian word Srbianci, I have often seen that it is used synonymously with "Serbs". So I propose that "List of Serbians", instead of being a redirect to "List of people from Serbia" after the renaming, should be a disambiguation page, explaining the usage of the term "Serbians" as a synonym for ethnic Serbs, and the name for the inhabitants of Serbia regardless of their ethnicity, and thus pointing to the pages "List of Serbs" and "List of people from Serbia". That's another posibility for what I proposed above: Rename this to "List of Serbs" and then transfer here all relevant persons from the original "List of Serbs", which is now erroniously titled "List of people from Serbia" after the inappropriate move. And then edit that "List of people from Serbia" in accordance with that title. Then still remains "List of Serbians" to be turned into a disambiguation page, as I explained above. Regarding some questions that were raised here so far, it might be useful to reflect on the general use of adjective Serbian, since there is a tendency among some users who claim that it should be used only in relation to Serbia, but not in relation to Serbs. They also claim that in relation to Serbs proper adjective should be "Serb". All those claims are quite misleading, since adjective Serbian has both meanings; it can be legitimately used in relation to Serbia, and also in relation to Serbs, depending on the context. Prime example: Serbian language is language of Serbs. Common meaning of that term is never reduced to Serbia only. Similarly to that, Serbian Orthodox Church is Church of all Orthodox Serbs, not only a "Church of Serbia". In spite of such clear confirmations of legitimate use of adjective Serbian in relation to Serbs, titles of several articles relating to various subjects on Serbs were changed by replacing "Serbian" with "Serb" as adjective, and thus a misleading terminological inconsistency was created. Since adjective Serbian is properly used for designating Serbian language as language of Serbs, that standard should be generally applied, and the same adjective should be used for all subjects related to Serbs.
