>British slang is also used in place of more common terms, such as Sakura telling Naruto to "stop giving Sasuke evils" (slang for a dirty look) instead of just telling him to quit staring.
Why shouldn't a british edition use british idioms? Maybe this sentence should be flagged as "partial" or removed altogether.
>British slang is just as unwelcome as American slang, although the quoted sentence is a pretty bad example of a phrase not that commonly known or used even in some parts of Britain. It's also suggesting that it's moving even further away from the original phrasing of the show - possibly the British used the US version of the show for reference, instead of the Japanese one?
You have to remember its not like they just go and dub the anime without doing research. In fact before anything they do recieve a hard copy translation that is word for word what the sentence is being said in japanese but unfortunatly when you translate it into english it may be too long. The final product may leave us with a product something like a badly dubbed 70s Hong Kong action flick.
Also you have to remember that this was a finish product before the US or the UK got their hands on it. The system they are trying to use is the "Wordfit System". The voice actors try to fit words with the motions of the mouth make it seamless. Sometimes the literal meaning is to much to long for the motions of the mouth. This is where it can leave the voice actor with room to improvise. The voice actors will try shortening what the literal translation is without having the meaning of what is being said lost.
The japanese too have slang that we don't have a translation for. For example Naruto's use of 'dattebayo' or ____bayo in the Japanese version. Dattebayo does not have a translation but its used for a person with rough speech or for a person who is tough in Japan. In the US version the translate this by changing it to 'Believe it!'--Justwisted 14:00, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
As of October 5th, Naruto will be airing on Thursdays instead of Wednesdays. Also, as of this October 5th, one airing will be 90 minutes long. I think the move to Thursdays should be mentioned in the article. IamCool316 01:19, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, there is some proof. Im not entirely sure where the link was to show it is moving to thursdays but i have an image from the latest chapter and it says, im not entirely sure because i cant read Kanji, but a friend of mine says that there will be a 90 minute airing on October 5th. Im sorry i thought that everyone knew about this already dont attack me for saying something that i found out just 3 hours ago. Jezz... IamCool316 02:44, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone else feel the main characters in Naruto (Naruto, Shikamaru, Neji, Sasuke etc) behave wayyy more mature then 12 year olds usually are (I'm sure as hell didn't think they were 12 when I started watching the anime)? I think this should be noted in some way. Kalandra 10:42, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
I just wanted to compliment you all on this Naruto article. It has to be one of the most educating encyclopedic entries I have read from the Wikipedia in regards to anime/manga. I like how you've picked at the series and identified the prevalent themes in the series. I definitely appreciate that because sometimes you're left in the dark as to determine the themes that the creator tried to convey, and some anime fans, whether they like to admit it or not, finish the series or is at a point in the series where they're confused. Thanks again Naruto Wiki team!

This is definately the most expansive wiki for an anime I have seen, and one of the most expansive wikis I have seen in general.
Gosh... we need some more mature people making the Naruto article —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.106.58.232 (talk • contribs) 05:29, September 30, 2006.
What I think would improve the general Naruto info is, on each character's page, is a list of every power that character has used. That would improve our knowledge of each move and character! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.135.212.105 (talk • contribs) 11:24, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
That has been done
Hey, everyone. I'd just like to point out some points that should be noted as contributing to Naruto 's incredible popularity; when Naruto premiered in 1999, it was featured on the famous Toriyama's World website and always had consistent, high quality scanslations; this was also the advent of bittorrent, which allowed distribution of Naruto to be all that much easier. IRC popularity and the spawning of several large, huge fansites simultaneously dedicated to Bleach and Naruto only further inflamed favour for these excellent shows. Additionally, older manga like One Piece, which could have potentially spoiled Naruto's popularity, recieved little attention because it was widely assumed in the pre-2000 period that the OP anime was licensed, and there was never a dedicated or consistent scanslation group to edit the manga; this allowed Naruto and Bleach to gain much more fame, in part because of dedication and technological innovations. 68.189.82.81 23:5712 September 2006 (UTC)

think this is one of the OVAs or maybe the special episode that is supposed to air in Japan on Oct 5th? 71.71.79.235 15:34, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I rewrote a couple lines from the 'Anime' section, nothing but speculation.
I changed it to:
I still think even that is too speculatory. If anyone wants to take it out altogether, go right ahead - I just have this hesitation about removing things completely.
Desire Campbell 140.184.32.65 14:36, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree with taking it out. The amount of episodes of filler is huge. I'd be sorely miffed if Kishimoto took his time to incorporate it instead of furthering the storyline. But as long as there is no contradiction, it can be considered canon. Vae 17:25, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Naruto was running Monday-Thursday on Cartoon Network @ 9PM CST, but I went to the scheduling page at C.N. and next weeks schedule does not have Naruto playing Monday-Thursday. Does anyone know if this is a mistake, or is the network removing the Monday-Thursday replays?--Salvax 19:51, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
So, does a Wiki specifically for Naruto exist yet? I mean, If they have a whole Wiki on the iPod, then I think someone can create a Naruto Wiki. Wikipedia is like a corporate exec, like Wal-Mart. It has a little bit of everything, but isn't as good as your local guys (i.e.: For music, you want Allegro Music. Wal-Mart sucks in terms of Music supplies). I would personally like to see a Naruto Wiki. Call it AkatWiki or something (Modeled after Akatsuki). 71.212.160.161 05:14, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't think Naruto is that big yet. While it certainly is popular, it really doesn't have enough topics to fill its own Wiki. Trust me, Category:Naruto has everything you need to know about the series so far and more. You Can't See Me! 03:24, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
i think it's i good idea, i mean there is a robot chiken and a beyond good and evil(video game) wiki and they are both small wiki's becuase there arent that many episodes/games. user:hotspot
In which episode did they say the B word?
Actually I was talking about the other b word.I'm just saying b word because i don't want to swear. And it was in the Naruto Wiki.
Sorry to anger you, but I mean the b word that has they a after. It said they said it.
Bukkake? I assume you mean the food of that name. Also, Narutofan, it's OK to actually say what word you're talking about. --tjstrf 16:31, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
You mean Sasuke-teme, right? That can't be said on Cartoon Network until Adult Swim or a special movie is being broadcast. In America, we can show violence (decapitation, disembowelment), but language upsets people more (drug references barely do), and it isn't allowed for our networks to show any explicit areas of the human body on cable, we can on digital cable and satellite, though.
Where can I get the text for this Naruto template, you know, the one at the bottom of the page that says 'Naruto Universe' and has all the links? - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 2:18, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
On a more general note about the template, why is it one giant box, rather than two or three that are crosslinked to only the relevant similar articles within the category? For instance, we could seperate out the characters from the main template, and only use the one which applies directly to the page in question. In that way, we could make the template look less cluttered than at present. --tjstrf 17:19, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the help Someguy0830, using the Naruto template as a guide, I created my own template. Go to Super Power Warriors to see it (of course it's not finished but it's a good start). I created this template because I am writing a story called Super Power Warriors that will have a prequel series (Super Power) and a sequel series (Super Power Warriors: Infinite), all of which I hope to turn into computer animated television series. I'm well on my way towards finishing the main series, then I'll be able to work on the other two series. So it will be 2007/2008 before you see much more of SP/SPW/SPW:I. If you're interested, you can read some of my work here: http://filelodge.bolt.com/profile/Grevenko/. I've only uploaded the first saga so far but I'll upload more soon. - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 1:02, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, it is a bit premature. I was mainly just fiddling around, so if in FUTURE SPW becomes NOTABLE there will be a template for it. It's not as if I've created an article for something that hasn't come out or anything like that, and the only place the template is used is in my personal sandbox so it's not as if it's hurting anyone. - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 20:55, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
I recently got into naruto cause they jus showed it to england (bunch of bums) and i think its really good now i know every thing about it and read all the comics im into it and i think its really got a good plot and storysoz guy im old yeh but CAN NARUTO BE THE FOURTH ??? just asking cus he wants to live his kinda legacy right
err.... look up Hokage in the Land of Fire section please. That is all.
What episode is the English dub up to? I noticed that Naruto will soon be coming out on DVD (October 11 - the first Naruto DVD comes out in Australia), so I'm just curious to know how many episodes have been dubbed into English. - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 21:32, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
In america, the publisher is Shonen Jump. Just a heads up.

On September 10, 2005, Naruto had its hour-long premiere in the U.S. on Cartoon Network's Toonami. The first episode of Naruto premiered in Canada on YTV on September 16, 2005. New episodes of Naruto currently air on Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. EST on Cartoon Network with an encore presentation the following Saturday at 8:30 p.m. On YTV it airs Fridays at 8:00 p.m. EST/PST and an encore presentation at 2:00 a.m. on Saturdays. In the UK, Naruto is shown on Jetix at 7:30 p.m. GMT. In Australia and New Zealand it premiered on Cartoon Network on September 27, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. AEST. The earlier English episodes are also available on Toonami Jetstream, Cartoon Network's broadband video service.[4]
What is wrong with that? Some of it shows when the anime series was broadened and placed into multilingual production. Even if current airing times don't belong, its first airing in a new country should be substanial information to not remove entirely as it shows the growth and popularity of the series. 71.71.79.235 15:27, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Do anybody have the numbers of the viewers this show pull in for the new episodes? The reason im asking this so i could add it in the growth and popularity section of this article.
P.S i dont want the ratings but the actual numbers please thank you.
I was thinking something was wierd when I added the link to the CCG and the reference to it was removed
Among several other manga and anime titles Naruto has also spawned its own collectible card game.
Replacing it is this revison
Revision as of 15:00, October 1, 2006 (edit) Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) (restoring deleted paragraph, reword)
I added the card game info without removing anything. Not sure then whether I should again replace the card game info or Someguy mistakenly thought I had changed a paragraph that didn't exist back when I added the info in the first place.
Are card games made from anime/manga relevant enough to list in the main article for such anime/manga tosfurther show its "Growth and Popularity"? shadzar|Talk|contribs 17:00, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
OK iIbeen watching it change back and forth on occation, so can some agreement be made as to how many members it has? Orochimaru WAS a member until he left and there are only 10 rings leaving 9 members of the main group. Considering Sasori was quickly replaced by Tobi for Deiedra to still have a partner, then can saying it comprises of 10 S-rank ninjas be truthful. Apparently there are more than 10 members. Also we don't know the ranks of the subordinates. One of the S-rank criminals left leaving only a definate 9.
Is thre any way to come to terms so that something can be agreed upon by all as to not be some complicated? How about (which consists of 9 S-Rank and other criminals)?
Maybe even remove it from the main article since Akatsuki has its own article in which people can check to see its membership both past and present. shadzar|Talk|contribs 23:16, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
In the "history" of the manga, Akatsuki have only/always been 9. I don't really count Orochimaru since we never saw him actually IN the group. And when we saw him during the invasion/attack on Konoha, he wasn't wearing all black with red lining. Even though Sasori has told us Oro was with Akatsuki during that period.
And there aren't really any followers, to my knowledge. (Hierarchy within the 9 something else to talk about.) I don't think they need ppl to do their dirty work. Vae 17:37, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
We have a major problem here! It seems that the user Shadzar has completely destroyed everything in the article! Somebody want to take care of this person? (I am a newbie, so I am clueless on how things work). 68.103.6.41 04:39, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Code_2008

Nothing prevents an admin from being a vandal. Some of them just get full of themselves and think they own an article. The only difference between an admin and a normal user is that if an admin decides to be incivil, push pov, and use their powers against you, you're fucked and can't do anything about it.
Oh, and: I think their removals are bad. There is nothing unencyclopedic about mentioning at what point two forms of a media - in this case anime and manga - separate in terms of storyline. But they keep removing that.
YCSM and I had an enlightening discussion on my talk page about this subject. Much of the dub differences were trivial edits, and sourced primarily to direct observation and comparison of the dubs themselves. I wouldn't object to a section on the differences in localization that was sourced to third-party reliable sources, but the version that was there gave excessive emphasis to minor, fannish details like the replacement of manjis. As for "Several small token edits have appeared in the North American manga, the most notable being the removal of Neji Hyuga's manji"; I daresay that the most notable edit was the fact that it was translated into English. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 18:27, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
That's fine. However, we need to focus on what has been noted in third-party reliable sources, though, instead of relating our personal opinions. I don't mean any incivility by pointing out that example; I simply highlight it as a loss of perspective and the assumption of details that are apparent to those who already know what goes into the localization process. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 18:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Way too many pepole are vandalising the page with Hentai pictures and comments about Naruto. This is a big problem which is why we need top keep it shut down for a while to solve the problem.
I agree with the user above there was a link to newgrounds.com on this page that lead to a Adult Rated game called Naruto Hentai Quiz Deluxe. If you know what Hentai is then this is a very inaproproit subjuct and needs to be resloved. Sonic34 13:40, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Did the creator of Naruto get any complaints from nintendo because the uchiha symbol looks like an poke ball?
One of the listed reasons that this article failed to win the nomination for a Featured Article is that it contained the word "Hyperactive" in the discription of Naruto. This may have been discussed before, but could I have some view-points here?-Hairchrm 03:35, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry, this is remotly related, but all the Japanese characters on my com. are showing up as little black bars and squares. Can somebody link me to the download for the fonts? The Wretched 01:01, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
If you have Windows XP, the text is already loaded onto your computer - you simply need to install it. Go to Start Menu/Control Panel/Regional and Language Options, select the "Languages" tab, and check the box for "Install files for East Asian languages." That should take care of it. Not sure if the methodology is the same for other versions of Windows, but the chances are good. Dandon TRJ 02:41, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
I think naruto is awesome. But in western style it really sucks, you know what I mean.
Yeah um...everybody, that's all very helpful, to someone else, but I have no Windows XP, just 2k (Though I want XP). And uh, I can definitely remember there being an article or section somewhere in this Encyclopedia that's about Japanese character display and some links for those who have it shown as black bars and squares. Anyone know where that is? I don't care about anything else. The Wretched 10:20, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
The Japanese episodes ROCK! But then you go and watch an english episode and you wonder why in the world you went and watched it. I hate the english versions so much! Why couldn't they have just kept it dubed and put it on [adult swim]. Emo kid 911 6:30, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
