Unsourced list of supporters[edit]

The following is unsourced; moved here per WP:PRESERVE. Per WP:BURDEN, do not restore without finding reliable sources, checking the content against them, and citing them. The content also violates WP:PROMO, in that this is content that would be on the website of the organizers, and Wikipedia is WP:NOTWEBHOST. Independent sourcing will be necessary to show this is WP:DUE.

I am sorry that I am no very skilled WP editor, so please help me fixing this issue. I was asked to show the relevance of the event's article and I guessed it would be a good idea to show that even larger organizations worldwide support this event which is celebrated in a continuous row in the 5th year now. Do I understand your critics right that there is no other source than the list of supporting organizations on the campaign's own website which cannot be seen as a reliable source? Ulf Dunkel (talk) 11:19, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Reading the descriptions of WP:DUE, I guess listing the above Supporting Organizations fulfulls the requirements as of "If a viewpoint is held by a significant minority, then it should be easy to name prominent adherents;" from WP:DUE. Ulf Dunkel (talk) 08:52, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried to find as much reliable sources as possible and will try even harder to find more. You are correct that I didn't cite them as expected. Is it okay if I learn how to correctly cite them and then restore the adjusted content? Ulf Dunkel (talk) 11:23, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Independent sources, are what is needed. Press releases and the like are not OK to show that the content is W:P:DUE. Please do keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and its mission is to provide the public with enduring, accepted knowledge (like Encyclopedia Brittanica). Wikipedia is not a webhost for the organizations that run this event, nor is it a site for advocacy for anything, nor a place to promote anything (not a product, nor a commemorative day), per WP:PROMO.
Sourcing content from independent, reliable sources helps the editing community remain focused on the mission. Jytdog (talk) 17:16, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Work adding sources to supporters list[edit]

I created this section, for work to happen to add refs to the supporters section. The work done in these diffs changing the section above, is now here. I have signed this section with the editor's signature who did that work. Please update the refs here, and please see my note below. thx Jytdog (talk) 17:42, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ulf, you have added a bunch of WP:SPS. You are created a new thing here in Wikipedia, and that is what we call WP:OR. Wikipedia is not a place to do this kind of work, per that policy. This belongs at the official website or the like, not here in WP. Wikipedia is not a webhost as is described in the WP:PROMO policy. Jytdog (talk) 17:42, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for pointing me to this issue, Jytdog. As this article describes an annual event which is rather new (5th year in a row), what would be reliable sources as per the WP policy? Ulf Dunkel (talk) 05:24, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In general, what reliable sources are is discussed on this page, but specifically, we would need independent reliable sources that discuss this "day" in depth(more than a passing mention) and explain how it is notable. These would be things like independent news stories, books, etc. that are not associated with those that put on this day or are involved in the cause. They don't have to be in English(Der Spiegel or Le Monde would be fine) My brief searches haven't found much on it, which is why I suggested a merge (and still believe it is the best thing) with the article on circumcision controversies. 331dot (talk) 07:25, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What about the sources which still are listed as references in the main article World Wide Day of Genital Autonomy? Ulf Dunkel (talk) 12:55, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
