This template can be used, alongside ((user)) and related request information templates, to provide quick links for checking whether a user has ever been ((alert))ed of the contentious topics system.

For example, this template might be used at the beginning of an arbitration enforcement request:

== Enforcement request concerning Example ==
* ((user|Example))
* ((Contentious topics/log|Example))

This would produce:

Enforcement request concerning Example

The introductory text, Search CT alerts:, can be changed using |2=. To hide the text, declare it as empty: ((Contentious topics/log|Example|2=)) would produce,

in user talk history • in system log

To change the text, populate |2=; ((Contentious topics/log|Example|2=This user was alerted in January 2014: )) would produce,

This user was alerted in January 2014: in user talk history • in system log

The piped text in user talk history can be changed using |3=. The piped text in system log can be changed using |4=. |1= will default to Example (that is User:Example) if not declared. ))
