That is his projected number.-DANO- (talk) 21:21, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
By 1 Newsday beat writer. That's NOT a confirmed # (there is a reason why it is still blank on knicks.com). JustSomeRandomGuy32 (talk) 21:23, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Muboshgu: The NBA.com uses "Last, First". Just try and type "Hardaway" in the search box in here, and you will see that the result will be "Hardaway Jr., Tim". Even his profile's link says "tim/hardaway_jr./203501", which means that "Hardaway Jr., Tim" is the correct usage per NBA website. And we go by what the source says regardless of what WP:JR states. P.s. I notified the NBA project about this. – Sabbatino (talk) 16:27, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
So the nba.com site is poorly designed to handle a name suffix and doesn't handle names in the English language correctly.... Wikipedia has a MOS for this. The Hawks previously didn't include the Jr so it was left out. The Knicks now do (again). Most importantly, "Jr" is not part of his last name (despite nba.com data fields including it for convenience in sorting). A name suffix always goes at the end of a name, whether it's written "first last suffix" or "last, first suffix" Blahblah32blahblah (talk) 17:55, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Wikipedia's MOS is the set of governing rules for how to handle things on Wikipedia. We shouldn't repeat the mistakes made by external sites on Wikipedia. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:24, 22 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just noticed that pro basketball seems to be the only (North American?) sport on Wikipedia that lists team rosters with players' last name first. Even college basketball lists the players as <firstname> <lastname>. Maybe we just change pro basketball to do the same?—Bagumba (talk) 16:33, 26 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
