The Streamer Awards is an annual awards show dedicated to live streamers.[2][3] It was founded in 2022 by Twitch streamer QTCinderella to award and celebrate other streamers, primarily in the Twitch community.[4] Nominees are selected via an online vote by fans[5][6] and winners are then determined using a weighted combination of the online popular vote (70%) and panelist vote (30%).[7][8][9]

The show consists of two main segments – a red carpet show that has interviews with the nominees and internet personalities as they arrive for the show,[10] and the main award show where nominees are reviewed and winners are revealed.[11][12] At various points during the awards portion of the show there are musical performances.[13]

History

The event has been held thrice since its inaugural ceremony in March 2022.

The first edition was held on March 12, 2022, at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and was broadcast live on Twitch.[14][15] Event founder QTCinderella hosted the award ceremony, along with Maya Higa.[16][17]

The categories "Best Political Streamer" and "Best Sports Game Streamer" were removed during the nomination process due to a lack of votes.[18]

Streamers were interviewed on the red carpet by NymN, Slime, and JHBTeam.[19]

Kai Cenat, winner of the 2024 Streamer of the Year award

The third edition of the Streamer Awards took place on February 17, 2024 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.[27] Streamers were once again nominated by fans. For nominations to be considered, the streamers must have streamed 200 total hours in 2023, along with 100 hours streamed for any specific category such as Best Battle Royale Streamer and Chess Streamer.[28] Nominations closed on January 19, 2024, after which QTCinderella announced that 286,000 people had submitted nominations.[29] On January 24, 2024, the nominees and hosts were announced, and voting was opened.[30] Once voting closed on February 7, 2024, QTCinderella announced on X that 639,609 votes were cast.[31]

The ceremony was co-hosted by Pokimane, while the red carpet was hosted by CDawgVA, ExtraEmily, and Will Neff; AustinShow served as floor host[30] and Prezoh conducted backstage interviews with the winners[32] which would be uploaded on the Patreon page for QTCinderella and Maya Higa's podcast, Wine About It.[33]

The event was sponsored by Marvel Snap, Chess.com, Enotria: The Last Song, Lunar Client, UnlimitedIRL, Honkai: Star Rail, Factor, Party Animals, FlyQuest, Twitch, Junkfood Custom Arcades, Feastables, Mad Mushroom, Nightingale and Patreon.
