Input[edit]

Hey, any input/ideas are helpful. Kante4 (talk) 12:10, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

France is apparently not using their second pairs spot, so their should be an extra spot in pairs

IIHF World Ranking[edit]

Hey, I want to check with you on the calculation for the maximum amount of points allowed for female competition. I think it would remain 3000 and not 4200 because a team that qualifies for 2014 Olympics is not eligible for 2014 IIHF World Championship, so they cannot "double dip" the points. OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:39, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, that's sneaky. Thanks for spotting it. OhanaUnitedTalk page 18:44, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

World juniors[edit]

I was blind. SUI has two games yet. Thx for your correction. --CZMajkl (talk) 11:00, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Denis Godla U18[edit]

Yeah might as well. Most other players have their U18 stats on, if they were in the tournament. Kaiser matias (talk) 00:20, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Handball[edit]

Hey, i thought the whole preliminary round would be counting... Kante4 (talk) 20:16, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, that clears it up. My fault then. Kante4 (talk) 20:25, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Yeah, good idea and hopefully it helps. I also asked for protection 2 days ago but no answer, thanks admins i guess... Kante4 (talk) 20:31, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

IIHF[edit]

Hey, about the upcoming tournament(s). Is it really nessesary to write more than just the second name if only one person with this last name in the roster appears? Example: "Ovechkin" instead of A. Ovechkin. Saves a bit of space AND it's done everywhere else. You know what i mean? Kante4 (talk) 20:52, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yup. That's what i'm planning for the tournament(s), starting soon. Wanted just to inform you and now wait and see if/how many times i get reverted from users. Kante4 (talk) 22:20, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Heyho, same for the roster pages, just a simple overview of who is playing and not updated stats. Don't know any other roster article where it is/was done. Like here is my idea. Kante4 (talk) 16:23, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

So, normal roster it is. ;) Interesting, will try it out, thanks. Kante4 (talk) 01:10, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe they update the pdf later or we will see when the lineup pdf comes out Kante4 (talk) 09:50, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It did but no worries. Sometimes i'm just too lazy to update the end of a quarter. ;) Kante4 (talk) 20:51, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, wouldn't this be better in the standings? Kante4 (talk) 06:43, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think a general note in the standings would look better (on both). It can be removed when it does NOT happen. Kante4 (talk) 12:12, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Added it. If you don't like it there or the wording needs to be cleared, feel free to remove or edit it. Kante4 (talk) 12:49, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
p no problem. I make enough mistakes myself and i am happy to have some help. Kante4 (talk) 14:08, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok as it is i would say. Yeah, somehow they change it very often afterwards, sucks. Kante4 (talk) 17:54, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Canada Winter Games[edit]

Not that I'm aware of. -- Earl Andrew - talk 00:26, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Only thing that came to my mind is the Optimist Under 18 International Curling Championships, but I have no idea how qualifying for that works. It's not a WCF sanctioned event. Maybe you could ask User:Traveltheglobe? -- Earl Andrew - talk 01:51, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Names[edit]

Hey, i saw me adding the corret names over and over. ;) What i do to get them right is, copy the name and place them into google and if needed with the correct use of ".is" ".lt" ".lv" and so on, so results from the language sites will be searched. You know what i mean? (English not my first language :p) Kante4 (talk) 14:50, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'm glad that you look thorugh the results and correct my errors at times. Kante4 (talk) 15:00, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oooor you check the other games to see if the player already scored and just copy it. Kante4 (talk) 15:09, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... when his article is called like this on wikipedia we go by that of course. Maybe because he's italian? Can't answer that, sorry. Kante4 (talk) 19:33, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Olympics[edit]

Hey, looking at this and the Q article on WP, there are some different teams/tables. I "fixed" it accoding to the IIHF article. Is that correct how it stands? AUS/NZL out but BUL/GEO have a chance e.g.? Kante4 (talk) 13:07, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. The thought of countries not wanting to participate never came into my mind. ;) Kante4 (talk) 09:27, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, i guess. Honestly, they should do a best-of whatever between USA and CAN. The tournament article for the men's tournament should be created after the WC, when the groups are known fully i think. Kante4 (talk) 21:51, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but i still forgot that. ;) Of you have the time, feel free to remove eliminated teams. Kante4 (talk) 17:46, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Euro[edit]

Hey, thanks for contacting me. You were correct (as always when it comes to tiebreakers). I did not realize that i reverted you until... now! :D Sorry for that, i made a math error. Kante4 (talk) 10:14, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just hating the IP's and editors who don't check back after being reverted (ESP/ITA today). But that's over, finally... Kante4 (talk) 21:44, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2016 world juniors divisions I and II scoring leaders edit[edit]

Sorry about that, i removed it, i just realized they already had that information in the Statistics section of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyanc13and7 (talkcontribs) 14:58, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2016 World Junior Division III[edit]

Thanks for providing the clarification for the qualification tournament. Wasn't aware of that detail, which is why I removed it initially. And thanks in general for being so quick with updating all the tournaments, always good to see. Kaiser matias (talk) 04:17, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's true the IIHF tends to somewhat ignore the rules when it comes to the lower divisions in order to ensure teams actually compete. Though I recall that in 2013 they hosted a Division III Qualification tournament with 4 teams, and the top two went to the full Division III tournament. But that was with 8 teams at that level, which they haven't been able to reach since (though hopefully again soon).
As for the photos, I tend to upload them on Wikimedia Commons, as that way they can be used by any project and language. As for what ones are good enough, I would just use your judgment as to whether they are going to improve anything at all, and show the subject in any meaningful way. As you have some Women's U18 tournament photos, possibly the first from that tournament here, most any of them will be good enough so long as they show the players/events. Kaiser matias (talk) 05:16, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Division II[edit]

Hey, POL, KOR, GBR is correct? Although GBR/KOR both have 2-2 in goals. All have the same points, so GD between them is decisive. Kante4 (talk) 11:12, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

All good. ;) Kante4 (talk) 22:31, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, you did not. ;) Was just short checking after coming home from girlfriend and before my game in real life. Now home. Kante4 (talk) 14:32, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Relegation[edit]

Hy, just saw it now. Weird rule in my opinion. If they are relegated, they should be. But i doubt that it will happen... Kante4 (talk) 09:09, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Not here today so would be nice if you can update the division I. Kante4 (talk) 16:37, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Do we use stats.iihf or reports.iihf as reference. Never saw reports to be honest. Kante4 (talk) 19:53, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Was just odd. Added the normal links now. ;) Kante4 (talk) 06:18, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, i won't be online much i think over the weekend (Monday = Holiday here). Will be away with gf and stadium and some stuff, so would be nice if you can update the games (Not sure how much i can help). ;) Kante4 (talk) 20:03, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Only if it works, no worries. Kante4 (talk) 20:14, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Russia and relegation[edit]

Hi. There is still theoretical possibility of relegated Russia :-) from 7th place in group (14th overall). For example, Germany last, Belarus (and Hungary) on 9 points with better goal difference than Russia :-D --CZMajkl (talk) 21:01, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That is the reason, why there is "Automatic qualifier after a top 13 (or 14) placement" Like at 2009 IIHF WC. Standard rule, not the same case as "FRA and GER both finish 7th and 8th". — Preceding unsigned comment added by CZMajkl (talkcontribs) 21:38, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied to your question on my talk page. --CZMajkl (talk) 21:03, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

List of national ice hockey teams[edit]

Excuse me, but why do you added non-existing national teams on the list? Haven't you ever looked on the talk page lately? – AaronWikia (talk) 18:35, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I predict a silly edit war...[edit]

Hi, thanks for the message. I too would rather remember a quite good album than get involved in a rather silly edit war - neither side are exactly covering themselves in glory here. Daveosaurus (talk) 07:37, 19 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

World Cup of Hockey 2016[edit]

Yeah, NHL coverage of this tournament and its rules, tiebreakers etc. is pretty poor at the moment. Only that one sentence about "NHL rules". I suppose 2 points for a win etc. We can only speculate on the other things. --CZMajkl (talk) 11:20, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pre season friendlies[edit]

Hi, I saw you editing Ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Men's qualification so I thought you might have something to say at 2016 World Cup of Hockey and the talkpage. There is a díscussion if we should add pre-tournament matches. Qed237 (talk) 00:50, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Undeleting hockey players[edit]

If you ever run into that situation again feel free to let me know as well. I usually go through old afds every so often looking for players in that situation to undelete so I have no problem doing it as well. -DJSasso (talk) 14:37, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion[edit]

I declined the speedy deletion of Jay McGee because saying he is a professional player is a big enough assertion to get past a speedy. The bar on no assertion of notability is very very low. I did however, convert it to a prod because he should be deleted. In the end it will amount to the same thing, but thought I would let you know for the future. -DJSasso (talk) 11:46, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Djsasso: Makes sense, thank you for letting me know.18abruce (talk) 13:05, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hockeybox[edit]

Thanks first of all for the updates. Did i miss some new features in the hockeybox template? Kante4 (talk) 13:39, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Looks better to me. Only thing i would add is a "v" instand of the empty space before a game is played. Kante4 (talk) 13:53, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I notice that when you leave the score line empty, it still shows the period score... Kante4 (talk) 13:09, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2018 Winter Olympics[edit]

Hey, the FIS cross-country points list shows both Mongolia and Dominica as have qualified athletes. Not sure if we should include them based on that list (I have reverted it back to the one including them) or wait till FIS corrects their mistake? Olympic articles[edit]

Yeah, just saw it over the course of my daily rummaging, didn't like the feel of it. Kaiser matias (talk) 15:36, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Never heard of him, unfortunately. And I wouldn't be too surprised if he played for two teams back then, as I don't think the rules were as stringent. Still, I'd maybe suggest asking the folks at International Hockey Forums for more, as they may have more information available, and it is probably the best place for international hockey-related questions. 2018 Winter Olympics - Alpine skiing[edit]

Hi, I just created the Alpine skiing at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Qualification page, however there is a discrepancy in terms of numbers (if you ad up the numbers I got 318, however there is a total of 320 quotas). Can you take a look and see where I might have made a mistake? Also can you please comment here [1]. Thanks! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 20:20, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships[edit]

Hi, I'm Boleyn. 18abruce, thanks for creating 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This has an empty references section. Can you please add the sources you used to the references section, preferably WP:INLINECITED. You've obviously done your research, but readers can't see it at the moment.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Deletion of Selena Zhao[edit]

@18abruce I understand that there is discussion about deleting the page for Selena Zhao. I would truly appreciate your consideration for reconsidering a borderline case with regards to competing in the free skate at Junior Worlds and medaling at a Senior B. At 2015 Junior Worlds, Zhao's short score was 44.22, whereas the long-qualifying score was 45.24. Her personal best in the short is 51.11, which is well above that score, and she was competing with the flu at the event. Her free skate score of 106.26 ranked third in the long at the Salt Lake City Senior B, a particularly competitive field including World silver medalist Satoko Miyahara. This long program score ranked above current US olympic hopefuls Karen Chen and Mariah Bell. Medaling at a senior international also varies greatly on the difficulty of the event; for example, at the Reykjavik Int'l Games this year, the same score (157.03) would have won the senior event. There are also SkateCanada, Icenetwork, and Golden Skate articles featuring Zhao, which are the most prominent news sources in skating. Lastly, Zhao is a notable scholar-athlete currently attending Harvard University and still performing in fundraising shows such as Evening with Champions, which continues to receive news coverage annually. I understand that Wikipedia is attempting to streamline the site for extraneous pages but I truly would appreciate keeping this page, and really appreciate your consideration for a very borderline case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.112.8.193 (talk) 21:34, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bobsleigh at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Qualification[edit]

Which rankings are you using for the simulations? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 22:35, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated the women's 500/1500 qualification for short track [2]. Let me know if the presentation is fine/it looks okay? It appears Singapore has qualified for their first games! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 19:12, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

USA has three athletes ranked higher, so Laura Gehring would not be able to qualify. Thus the last spot went to Russia. Should we add Singapore to the main 2018 Olympics page? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 19:22, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The same situation happened with the men. In particular France and Italy had two male athletes ranked in the top 32 (for the 500m) but three other athletes from each nation ranked higher in other events, thus leaving the spots to Canada/Japan. Also can you take a look at the 1500m allocation for men closely? I am not 100% sure... but it should be right. Thanks! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:21, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, hopefully I am right! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:30, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to butt in here but re: bobsleigh I've been told by a couple of sources including a senior coach on the US team that, although the IBSF don't mention it on the qualifying document, they use a "cleaned-up" version of the ranking list to determine Olympic qualifiers. They take out ineligible teams (4th best US, CAN, GER and more) before they finalize the list. In women's bobsleigh that would move Nigeria up to the mid-30s ranking and able to claim a continental place Topcardi (talk) 21:42, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure about this? They didn't do it for Sochi? Also its not listed anywhere in the qualification document. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 22:02, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know this until yesterday. Since then it's been confirmed by the CEO of US Bobsleigh, the head coach of the US skeleton team and NBC's Olympic correspondent. I haven't seen anything in print but I would assume they're right? Topcardi (talk) 22:08, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I hope so, that would allow the bobsleigh/skeleton fields to have more "exotic" nations qualifying. For ex. this would move Israel into the men's skeleton field. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 22:32, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2014 Olympic Bobsleigh[edit]

What's your view on the men's results from 2014. Although the driver of the Russian gold medal sleds is disqualified I can't find any definitive info to confirm the teams/sleds have been disqualified. At least not yet... Topcardi (talk) 13:59, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
