Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Although the voting ended at 36/22/5, there was no consensus to promote, and the RfA was unsuccessful. I would like the thank you nonetheless for supporting me during the RfA, and hope that any future RfA’s proceed better than this one did. Again, I thank you for your support. ≈ The Haunted Angel Review Me! 02:25, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your support with respect to my request for adminship, which successfully closed today with a count of 47 support, 1 oppose. If you ever see me doing anything that makes you less than pleased that you supported my request, I hope to hear about it from you. See you around Wikipedia! re: vampires, I did have an interest in the language, but it was for an unrelated project, and so have little cultural knowledge. If you can find translations or facsimiles of Sahagún's work, you mght have better luck, at least for the Cihuāteteoh ("standardised "classical orthography).
re: Fungi. I always recommend not putting systematic images: takes too much room. Place a few of them on the left instead. Maybe try to combine more fields to make the table takes less room? (see e.g. List of mammals of Korea and List of mammals of Canada. Also, given thelikely size of the list, you'll want to use actual headers instead of table divisions à la List of Anuran families. Hey Casliber! Thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 61 supports, 3 opposes, and 1 neutral. I hope your confidence in me proves to be justified, and please feel free to call on me if you ever need any help or opinions! GlassCobra 00:47, 5 November 2007 (UTC) |
Hey. I'm currently reviewing Variegated Fairy-wren (printed copy, should reply tonight or tomorrow EST) and have a quick question. Is it a British thing to spell words like localised and recognised with the letter s instead of z? I noticed this in an earlier Fairy-wren and changed them, but now I'm wondering if its just a language difference. Thanks. Rufous-crowned Sparrow 21:48, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Witch's hat, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Witch's hat seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Witch's hat, please affix the template ((hangon)) to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Thanks for voting at my RfA. Unfortunately, the result stands at 51 support, 21 oppose and 7 neutral which means that I did not succeed. As many expressed their appreciation of my works in featured portals during my RfA, I will fill up the vacuum position of director in featured portal candidates to maintain the standards of featured contents in addition to my active role in Good articles. Have a great day. OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:07, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
I see we've both lost interest in Vamps... How much longer do you think before we're done (I don't remember any other article taking this long - mind you it is 100KB). I've lost pretty much all interest; I can't wait to get it out of the way so we can move onto another article (Unless you don't want to - I know I've been a pain lately...). I was thinking Pork; a nice easy article and your nom for FAC. How hard can it be (Famous last words...). ;) Spawn Man 04:29, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
P.S. I saw a doco on this weird syndrome called AHS, which I thought you might find interesting (Sick stuff like your own hand trying to strangle you or poking your eye out with a knife - that sort of thing...) - maybe even a future collaboration for us if you haven't lost all patience with me. ;) Cheers Cas, Spawn Man 04:29, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi, Casliber. Could you do me a favour? I have just finished working on Ceres and this article now needs a careful reading. It is not urgent, but I want Ceres to appear on the main page on 1 January 2008 — the date of its discovery. Ruslik 09:43, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
I have read the book, and it isn't that good. Many of the topics discussed are flawed and the book seemed to be influenced over religious opinion more than anything. Read the reviews if you want. Fangz the Wolf 19:22, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Thankyou for supporting my successful rfa which closed with 58 supports. If i am honest i am rather humbled by the unanimous support and i hope to live up to everyones expectations. If you ever need any help, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again. Woodym555 14:13, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Peer review/volunteers. Simple and could really be effective.
How are you anyhow? I was travelling all last month. In a random decision I've settled into Giant Otter. Marskell 17:05, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
I took information from the Saguine article before it was merged, and took a little info from the Psychic vampire article, linking it to the main article. It needs a refernce clean up though. Fangz the Wolf 02:24, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
It's better with it, as Circeus suggests. Perhaps you're being sensitive to the closeness of "it" and "its", which is an issue if we're being very fusssy about elegant language. May I suggest although in formal language (Encarta Dictionary's idea, and I agree). And I wonder whether you need to mark it grammatically with the addition of "does"; probably not. There's another issue that may not matter: "although", strickly speaking, is not logical, since we've been told that the diet is mainly insects (we're expecting something else already). So maybe:

You may want to check it out, it now covers Sanguiarians, and Psychic vampires. It also has tons of WP:RS as well. Fangz the Wolf 20:49, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi Cas!
After all your hard work on Gorgosaurus in July, I've decided to nominate it for GA. I added one more reference, and I think it's ready to go. I'm still keen on the idea of a Featured Topic, and with Daspletosaurus, Albertosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus already FAs, and Tarbosaurus only needing minor work IMO, we could be well on our way to a FT. What do you say? Firsfron of Ronchester 05:41, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Nah, it's not that great: see template talk:Clade. Hesperian 11:11, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the offer. Hm, I don't think I've ever written a FA, at least not intentionally. When I have time for writing (which unfortunately isn't often) I tend to focus on translating stuff from the Dutch wiki, as per WP:ECHO. >Radiant< 12:04, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
I wanted to drop you a note thanking you for your participation in my RfA, which was successful (137-22-5). Although you were in the group of 22, I do appreciate that you took the time to actually consider my contributions and make your own decision from your own observations rather than just making a pile-on vote. With that said, I look forward to proving my opposers wrong. :) Lara❤Love 18:49, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I'm happy to work towards that, just not over the next month. I have a deadline for mid December, and I'm going to need all the time I can get.
After that, it'll be fun. :D Alastair Haines 21:05, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Get it? Fun-guy/Fungi? Since you're studying mushrooms? ;) How'd the gameshow go? And I've also replied to your comments on the Vampire talk. Cheers, :) Spawn Man 02:42, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

...thank you for your participation. I withdrew with 83 supports, 42 opposes, and 8 neutrals. Your kind words and constructive criticism are very much appreciated. I look forward to using the knowledge I have accrued through the process to better the project. I would like to give special thanks to Tim Vickers and Wikidudeman for their co-nominations.

I'm a little nervous about the prospect of creating a trivia section (if we're not careful). If there are up to 20 million polio survivors, then the fact that many are notable isn't particularly surprising. Were you thinking of naming a few select polio survivors here? There are potential problems here. Which would you pick and how would you stop "drive-by" additions. Most folk wouldn't know Sutherland had polio and how many people under 35 have heard of Dury? I agree with your sentiments, and hope List of polio survivors achieves this in an encyclopaedic way (i.e., giving the facts, without emotive language). Can you elaborate on your ideas? Colin°Talk 13:57, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Taking into account Colin's concerns about "drive-by" additions and "trivia creep" (which I share, based on my experience with sections like this in other disease articles) how about this (or a better worded version) tacked on to the end of the History section?
Let me know if this is what you had in mind or if I have gone totally off course. Also feel free to make adjustments or just rewrite whole darned thing. --DO11.10 18:50, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Re: movies (if any) and one or two of most famous examples in para 1. Fears of engaging in clinical reductionism aside, I am still not convinced it is a good idea to list any specific names here. My choices for "most famous" would certainly be different than your picks. (For example I had never heard of Ian Dury before the "List". Note that: I am under 35 and an American, which apparently explains everything.) I think it would be much more appropriate to just provide a link to the "List".
As for movies, I find mostly documentaries on IMDB (which I do not feel constitutes a RS by the way) and maybe A Very Long Engagement but I am not sure it was made clear that she had Polio specifically. Any notable documentaries, I would feel more comfortable listing in the "further reading" section. Thoughts?--DO11.10 18:37, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

In a number of articles you have said "Latest research indicates it forms a worldwide superspecies with Verreaux's Eagle, Gurney's Eagle and the Golden Eagle." How do you know this? David Sher 22:13, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
O.K. What is a fact tag, and how do I stick one on it? David Sher 18:27, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Hey Cas!
As you just noted, Gorgosaurus just made GA! Congratulations are in order, as this was mainly your work. :) Now if only you'd work on some of the other tyrannosaurids, instead of all those silly fungus articles, we'd have a FT! ;) Seriously, though, thanks for all your work on Gorgey. Firsfron of Ronchester 02:09, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks so much for that - prose is the biggest issue I have with all my writing, so your efforts in the past hour or so is much appreciated. Cheers, Daniel 02:14, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for reviewing the article that I am working on. Miranda 05:17, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi Calisber, regarding the articles about eagles and fact tags, where can I read about fact tags? You might not have seen my question above. -- David Sher (talk) 19:57, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, I'll go to that page. -- David Sher (talk) 20:11, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
