Proposed deletion of Chris Fagan[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Chris Fagan, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Player fails WP:ATHLETE as has never played in a fully-pro league

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the ((dated prod)) notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. December 2010[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. GraemeL (talk) 15:59, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've not used this talk thing before; this is experiemental so here goes. I am not actually adding links to articles but rather updating them as the links are already on the pages and have been forming (hopefully) a valid addition to the articles for a number of years. All links relate to Lincoln City Football Club and as a club's supporter I feel that they do contribute. However, the website that they link is changing its URL, so I was merely updating the links before they point to a non relevant website. Exiledimp (talk) 16:21, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looking back in your history, you added all of the old format of links in the first place. Please don't add any more, it's going to take me a while to remove them all. --GraemeL (talk) 16:23, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will not add any more links but I do not know what the difference is between one of the links I posted to that Lincoln City FC website and say any of these *sporting-heroes.net - Alan Buckley, Birmingham City FC, 1978–1979

I honestly felt that they contributed to the article and my apologies if there were not. However, I do agree that they either need updating or deleting Exiledimp (talk) 16:36, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The difference is that one has been added by different editors and the other seems to be a campaign (even well intentioned) to promote a single site by a single editor. I appreciate that you feel they added to the articles, but if everybody came along and tried to add links like you are, the articles would be swamped by hundreds of links. --GraemeL (talk) 16:39, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was never meant to be a campaign but I appreciate the argument and thanks for clarifying. I just like Lincoln City Football Club and felt I could help improve Wiki's coverage/articles. I have not just added links to the articles but have updated them with written content without links. Sorry about that Exiledimp (talk) 16:50, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
