Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing!
You make good points. I originally heard about Sheffield United getting a plate for finnishing runners-up on the television show Soccer AM, where they were interviewing someone from Sheffield United (I forget who, though it was probably Neil Warnock). As the interview went on, it was mentioned that the club would be receiving a plate for finishing second. They then said that this was the first time that this had happened.
I suppose that it is nice for their achievement to be recognised. Even the club which wins the playoffs (Watford F.C.) receives a trophy, and previously, the runners-up would receive nothing, even though they finished in a higher place than the team which wins the play-offs. The whole thing is an initiative of Coca-Cola football. When the company started their sponsorship of the football league, names of competitions were changed (division one changed to the championship, for example). This was done, as they aimed to improve the appearance of football at that level. Awarding a plate to the runners-up is the continution of this process. I did think that the runners-up of leagues One and Two would also receive something similar, but this has not come to my attention.
Anyway, I had certainly not seen it happen before, myself. When I added it to the article, there was a separate section for "Blades' firsts", so it seemed fitting that I should add this point to it. I think that it is the first time where a plate has been awarded, with the intention of awarding it to future runners-up, as well. I may have been a bit 'long-winded', but it is complicated to explian. Sorry for not being able to provide any 'solid' evidence, but I couldn't find any. 13756 19:27, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Well done on re-organising the Kenny Jackett page, which I tried to do recently but then forgot about! Looks much better already. - Stevecov 19:37, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Not really. Have a look at WP:C in general and WP:C#Introducing invariant sections or cover texts in Wikipedia in particular. You can paraphrase what is on the BBC site if you like. But not copy-and-paste-and-edit. Sorry. Frelke 10:24, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
In case you hadn't noticed, Debbie Greenwood has been proposed for deletion. NickelShoe (Talk) 08:19, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Its been in several swiss newspapers, as well as being announced by xamax http://www.xamax.ch/ as you can see it is the top story on their official site. There are also some pictures (i dont remember where i saw them tho) of him signing with the club flag. KingDoorknob 16:16, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi, I was wondering if you could explain your reasoning behind removing the Slade sentence in the Deliberate misspelling article? It seemed perfectly relevant to me. Thanks. --Jameboy 23:46, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
If you look on the website of the FA (who are the ultimate decider on such matters), they do list AFC clubs at the top alphabetically (see [1] for AFC Bournemouth and [2] for AFC Wimbledon). Similarly, FC United would be under F rather than U. With regards to Danish teams, I guess it depends how they do it over there. I hope this goes some way to settling the matter! Apologies for that one, I've added an exception to my list so that I won't try to fix 'Safty' again. Rjwilmsi 17:04, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

As a footie specialist, can I ask you to contribute to Wikipedia:Peer review/Italian football champions --Dweller 13:33, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
The Alphawiki logo was not a copyright violation. It was similar to that of the football league, but I created it myself, changing the colours and the text. So it was different, and I created it. There was no reason in having it deleted. Eaomatrix 12:41, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Those were exactly the type of references needed to remove the need for that tag. Quatloo 12:58, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
I was pretty much just reverting a few changes by an anon. There were two nick-name lines so I got rid of the 2nd one. It seems that nick-names are not included at all,
Good luck at Wembley. Despite my user name I definately not a Derby County fan. Ram4eva 05:29, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Was wondering what you mean by 'template not needed'? I assume you must feel strongly in order to undo my edit. Thanks. --Jameboy 20:04, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
To be honest, the rules keep changing and I'm as confused as anyone is. I uploaded the image but another use made half of the fair use rationale, although I've done some of the points. From now I'll be basing my fair use rationale on this image [[Image:0410258258 jim hunter.jpg]], which has been reviewed and passed. Also check out Wikipedia:Non-free_content if you've not already done so, which is quite confusing and keeps changing. Englishrose 17:02, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
It was simply because tthe page was long out of date and inaccurate...for example, two players at #6, one called Lee Canoville, another called Lee Tanobille. Lee Canoville left in May. I think wikipedia could the only place where the squad list is remotely up to date or accurate! slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 16:30, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I would have thought that, technically, début should only appear in fr.wikipedia (the French language version), because there is an English language alternative available, as you point out yourself. If there is no alternative, then the accented version obviously must be used. The editor in question is probably trying to ensure correct local usage in articles, therefore converted your spelling into the one more suitable for en.wikipedia language. The same tends to apply for English-based articles preferring (e.g.) "naturalise" to "naturalize", whilst the opposite is true of US-based material. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 20:43, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Just a quick note to say cheers for the barnstar, it was much appreciated Foxhill 00:57, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi Jameboy, thanks for the expanation. Yes, I see what your'e saying, but I feel that the sociological implications of what at face value, seems to be just a simple chant are enormous and it is far too important to just be plonked into the Millwall article. It says: "You don't like us, well good, we don't want you to, we will abuse you because we have taken enough of your abuse. We will abuse you because you are black, brown, white, have ginger hair, a police woman with big ears and we just feel like doing it because it's fun, and it upsets your lower middle class sensibilities and because you are not a Millwall fan." And much more.
I have the relevant book somewhere, I'll dig it out and improve the article. Up The Baggies! (not bin up yor way for a while now :) Take care, Lion King 15:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Midget (band), by 85.189.82.128 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Midget (band) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Midget (band), please affix the template ((hangon)) to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 09:51, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

HELLO THERE JAMEBOY, THIS IS VASCO FROM PORTUGAL, user nº217.129.67.28.
I tend to remove those
because i felt the stats were still aligned without them and it made for an easier read. If they are really necessary, it is the LAST TIME i will remove any. Thanks for the tip, and for the constructive manner in which it was presented. DID YOU KNOW I WAS THREATENED WITH PERMANENT BLOCKING FOR ADDING DEFAMATORY INFO TO AN ARTICLE WHEN ALL I DID WAS CORRECT THE ARTICLE'S POOR ENGLISH AND THE DEFAMATION WAS ALREADY THERE? AND ARTICLES HAVE THEIR OWN EDIT HISTORY!!!Anyway, getting a little out of the question, thanks jame for the info, have a nice weekend and i'll WIKI-SEE YOU!!

Hi. Sorry it took a while. Had to remember which was which. Must have been great when they played for Torquay at the same time! WikiGull 17:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! What a day it was though. The vandalism was, well, quite pathetic really. This is a lovely example. And anyone with more than an imaginary £500,000 would be an improvement! Mattythewhite 14:29, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi Jameboy, i was just wondering if you would care to edit the Wolverhampton Wanderers wikipedia pages as well as our pages are lacking in comparison to the West Brom pages and you would be the best man for the job.

Hey, thanks for your suggestion, I'm looking into it right now. It would be good if you could add your comments to the on-going FAC as well, especially if you have other ways to improve the article! All the best, The Rambling Man 13:27, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I could be miles off, but I do genuinely believe this is notable. I've replied to your comment... the article's also vastly improved. And please do also read the rest of the discussion that's followed your contribution. I'd be grateful if you reviewed your opinion. Thanks. --Dweller 17:23, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your support, his article was promoted to featured status last night. Hurrah! The Rambling Man 10:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
