Stands Forever is a five piece Emo/screamo band with an international cast of members. Based in Riga, Latvia, the bands singer is Danish, guitarists Estonian and Swedish, Drummer's Latvian and the bassist, like one of the guitarists, is also Swedish. Presently the band is self-promoting their third EP "Look how pretty she bleeds", which they recorded in the summer of 2005 in SWH Radio studios.

The band started as a three piece project, when Andreas Andersen and Edgars Karklinš joined the International School of Latvia (ISL). Andreas and Johan Blixt quickly became good friends and decided to try a chance at making music. The idea really took off, when they learned that Edgars had taken drum lessons before and was willing to share his skills behind the set. So the guys headed to the practice room in the Salvation Army headquarters in Riga, accompanied by John Haravee, who was merely there to film the hilarious undertaking. Making music wasn't really their strong suit, but the enthusiasm was there. That's how the band started out.

Soon after starting out, they asked John to be their lead guitarist, and he agreed. All it took for him was to dig out his dads old guitar and he was on his way. Called a bunch of different names at that time, Stands Forever also had Itamar Gal as their singer for a while. Things were moving really slowly at that time, and with all the different ideas going on about the way the band should develop, arguments broke out almost to the point of violence. The band broke apart, with John, Edgars and Itamar going their own way about it, leaving Andreas and Johan with their idea of the band.

Very soon Itamar decided to give up on the band. Edgars and John were once again united with Andreas and Johan to create the band that is before us today. All five of them still share a strong friendship and even though most of them had to leave Latvia to go back to their home countries, in Edgars' case, Geneva, they still come back every once in a while. In the past three summers, they've recorded three Demo/EP's "Time is for fools", "You'll hate me for saying this" and "Look how pretty she bleeds".

With the inconvenience of living in different countries, they have never played a full set, but have done some acoustic concerts for school events. The summer of 2006 promises to be a good summer for them, with plans of playing in Tallinn and Riga, Recording a new album and doing other band stuff.

Be sure to check out their material!
