Hi there Shabdiz ! wish you good times in wikipedia. have you seen these articles Barbod and Sassanid music ? what do you think about them ? could you help me expanding these article please ? Amir85
hey shabdiz! I just recently started getting into persian classical music and the setar, i just recently got a setar, (like two days ago, hehe) but i cant find any information on how to play them. I found information about persian music theory, but im not sure as to the specifics of how the setar is played, for example, are the melodies played on the two bottom strings (the ones closest to the ground?) and the two strings that are closer together, are they just strummed to a kind of rhythem? like the last two or three strings on the indian sitar? would you be able to possible post some of this information on the setar page if you know the answers? thanks a bunch! andrew
p.s. i have no clue how to edit this wikipedia thing or a better way to contact you, lol, so hopefuly you find this! heh
Hi Andrew, It seems that you are not a member in Wikipedia. Anyway, if you have an email you could leave it here. Sure, I know the answers and will post something in this regard. But I suggest you find yourself a teacher in your country or come to Iran for an intensive Setar or even Tar training.
Hi, and thanks for the reply. The reason for why I tagged the page is that the frontpage on the site hosting the short biography([1]) claims that "Copyright © 2000 Shayda. All rights reserved", which I interpret as the being copyrighted, and thus useage here could violate that copyright. If permission is granted for Wikipedia to use the article, it should be noted on the talkpage of the article, in order to avoid similar incidents in the future. Hope this helps! No problem! I've blocked User:Amoaveni indefinitely as an imposter. Unfortunately, usernames can't be "returned", but I guess that's better than this person still being able to edit. If he/she comes back, I'll eventually have to protect the page. Bedrood, Khoikhoi 02:15, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, I've already blocked him. I don't think the vandalism is bad enough for the article to need semi-protection yet. We'll see how things go, ok? Khoikhoi 03:37, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Feel free to update the portal. --JuanMuslim 1m 01:35, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
I do note that Zoroaster himself is listed under Category:Prophets, which is presumably acceptable. Otherwise, I don't see any specific subcategories of Category:Zoroastrianism which could be specifically placed in the Religious leaders category. My guess would be to be bold and create one or two such categories of Zoroastrianism, which could then be also made subcats of Religious leaders. Badbilltucker 17:21, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you very much for joining the Religion project! There is a lot of work left to be done out there, and any input from someone who is knowledgable in a specific field is more than welcome. Oh, and by the way, don't pay too much attention to the current ridiculous format of the new Wikipedia:WikiProject Zoroastrianism/Articles page. I'm just trying to get all the categories in place, so that it'll be easier to add the articles only once, putting them in all the appropriate categories the first time. One of the things I'm probably going to have to do when the articles list is done is try to recategorize a lot of them. I really wonder how Category:Jainism qualifies as a sub-subcategory of Category:Jesus, for example. Also, any input you might have on any of the articles relating to Persian mythology would be more than welcome. I know that there is a bit of a discussion on the Talk:Mithraism page right now that is, unfortunately, pretty much over my head, and any input you might be able to give there would probably be most welcome. Also, if there is ever anything that I or the other members can do, please feel free to let me know directly or leave a message on the project's talk page. Thanks again for joining! There are two entries at Wikipedia, which have falsely created -- they are Turco-Persian and Turko-Persian Tradition. Both entries are factitious. I have requested the entries to be deleted. My reasons are:
Any contributions would greatly appreciated. Bā Sepās Surena 02:12, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
How factual is this article? What are the references available? Thanks. Shabdiz 12:43, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Since "Surena", aka "ParthianShot", aka "Shapour Suren-Pahlav" himself wrote the article, you can bet that its not at all factual. -- Fullstop 14:46, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
