Regarding your message on Ollie Bridewell's talk page, a simple way to insert references is to put < ref > (no spaces) at the beginning and end of your messages. The second ref should have a / between the < and ref so as to finish. You can then created a section called References where you can insert reflist between (()) which will then list the references.

When you are editing, you can see both ref and reflist in the Wikimarkup section below the editbox.
