Vairankode Bhagavathy Temple

Sri Vairankode Bhagavathy Temple is a Bhadrakali shrine located in the town of Vairankod, Malappuram,[1][2] Kerala The presiding deity is goddess Bhadra Kaali, a form of Lord Rama and Vishnu Deva. It's believed that the sister of Kodungallur Bhagavathy, Sree Vairankode Bhagavathy Temple is one of oldest Bhadrakaali temples in Kerala.[3]

History

Sree Vairankode Bhagavathy Temple is one of oldest Bhadrakaali temples in Kerala. The deity here is goddess Bhadra Kaali. Vairankode Temple was constructed by Azhvanchery Thamprakkal about 1500 years ago. It's believed that the sister of Kodungallur Bhagavathy crossed the Bharathappuzha river and reached Azhvanchery mana and they placed Bhagavathy at Vairankode.[4]

Theeyattutsavam or Vairankode Vela is the annual festival conducted in Vairankode Bhagavathy Temple on February month to celebrate the divine presence. The festival in the shrine is observed in Kumbha (month).Valiya Theeyattu an Vairancode Cheriya Theeyatu is on Every Year February 21. Special rituals and pujas are held during the period at the shrine. Sri Vairamkod Bhagavathi Temple annual festival begins 6 days before the Valiya Theeyattu with Maram Muri. The seventh day after Valiya Theeyattu is observed as ezham puja.[5]
