The result was no consensus. The article has been considerably rewritten during the course of this AFD, and nobody but the nominator wanted this article to be deleted. Merging is an editorial decision that can be discussed on the article's talk page, at Talk:Premier League, or at some other relevant venue. This is an award that has very few google hits. It's mentioned but it's unclear how notable it is. More importantly this article has 0 context. It has a badly formed list of winners for the past 7 years. Shadowjams (talk) 06:33, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge per Miguel. I had tagged this article for speedy deletion as a duplication of Premier League Player of the Month as I first thought the editor had switched Season for Month by accident. Also, the section Barclays_Premier_League#Player_and_manager_awards does not mention this award at all while several others, like Manager of the Year etc. are mentioned there. I removed the tag when I found some mentions in individual season articles. I now even find "... of the Decade" awards mentioned here and there so this might get messier. --DeVerm (talk) 13:26, 31 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]

- I think 65 references plus 21 footnotes is what makes the difference. There are now 4 references in the article and all 4 fail WP:V. Furthermore, I searched and could not find any either. I am still not convinced that this award really exists separately from the player of the month awards. --DeVerm (talk) 16:24, 1 August 2011 (UTC).[reply]
