Fictitious topic presented as fact. The phenomenon described never existed outside of fiction; regulatory heraldic bodies are a post-medieval development; possession of heraldic devices stemmed from inheritance or from individual assumption of arms, and had nothing to do with presence or absence of a "liege". • Keep if and only if restricted to a discussion of the character type, assuming that sources can be found to substantiate an encyclopedic article and not just a list of fictional works in which a "black knight" appears.
