The article presents a short biography of an educator and his accomplishments. Though the subject of the article has appeared on a television program called The Sky at Night, the article appears to be an example of self-promotion and publicity (WP:SPIP) and likely fails meet the notability requirements. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnstevenbrook (talk • contribs)

Delete no indication of notability from independent reliable sources outside of show/self-promotion after 8-9 years of being tagged. One of two articles (along with another The Sky at Night presenter Peter B. Lawrence) created by a single-purpose account Timelike (talk · contribs) who also uploaded the headshots to commons (Commons:Special:Contributions/Timelike). This has all the hallmarks of vanity page creations and doubtful legitimate copyright to those images because of their non-candid appearance (maybe copied from the old BBC website?). Delete. Nonexistent research citations and a teaching position mean no pass of WP:PROF. No in-depth independent sources for his role as a BBC co-presenter are apparent. And even his book Visual Lunar and Planetary Astronomy appears to have left barely any trace in independent sources (I found one inclusion of it in a listing of recent books, not an in-depth review) so WP:AUTHOR seems to be out as well. —David Eppstein (talk) 06:29, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Update: Make that three books. Visual Lunar and Planetary Astronomy, Stargazers Notebook, and (co-authored) How to Read the Solar System: A Guide to the Stars and Planets.
