Already has a bot flag (Y/N):

Function details: Facebook has introduced community pages that include Wikipedia data (http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=382978412130). Data are clearly attributed to Wikipedia along with an "Edit" link that takes users directly to the Wikipedia editing interface. This should be a win for the Wikipedia community since it should increase the number of community editors. This bot will automatically pull in data from Wikipedia once a day as it is updated, and more often as needed (in case of high-profile defacements).

This bot will download updates using the Wikipedia API to keep Facebook community pages up to date. Without an official bot, requests are limited to 50 pages per request; if we can get the bot limit of 500 per request, updates can happen much faster.

Huh? As far as I'm aware, they're not currently allowing editing of the entries by anyone. And wouldn't Facebook just update the content dynamically on their own if they wanted it? --MZMcBride (talk) 02:11, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I can't say I understand this bot task either. Tim1357 talk 02:15, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The background information is useful, but there's no specification of what this bot will do. Please clarify. Josh Parris 02:23, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added some clarifications to the above section. User talk: FacebookBot

You're saying you're an official Facebook account? Is there some verification of this available? --MZMcBride (talk) 17:20, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I maintain the Facebook community pages and keep the Wikipedia pages up to date. Do you guys have access to the account email addresses? You'll see that this account is registered under a @facebook.com email address. If there's another way you'd like me to authenticate, please let me know. User talk: FacebookBot 17:49, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, could you email me at [snip] or info-en@wikimedia.org with a mention of my username from an @facebook.com account or provide an extension at publicly available facebook corporate phone number that I could contact you at. MBisanz talk 18:06, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, could the user involved with User:FacebookBot please confirm your identity to me as well? Email me at philippe(@)wikimedia.org. I would ask that BAG not approve this bot until I've confirmed that it belongs to our official Facebook contacts, please. Philippe Beaudette, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:10, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, we will wait to hear that everything is legit from that perspective. MBisanz talk 18:12, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Identity confirmed: this is our official Facebook contact. Please feel free to approve. Philippe Beaudette, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:14, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedily Approved. Confirmed as a legit corporate account with the foundation. MBisanz talk 18:15, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
