Category:Railway stations at college campuses

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. There is a consensus that if the category is kept, it should be renamed. No consensus on @Marcocapelle and DexDor's suggestion to delete, so feel free to open a new deletion discussion on the renamed category. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 09:20, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Requesting rename as this category includes stations serving college and university campuses in the United States and in other countries. In accordance with naming convention for categories about schools of higher education (i.e. Category: Universities and colleges in the United States, Category: Universities and colleges in Canada, etc) and to accommodate both American ("college") and non-American ("university") varieties of English. The result of the discussion was: rename all. Note that this discussion was originally closed inappropriately (see WP:BADNAC) by a now-blocked non-admin sock @Artix Kreiger, who proceeded to move the pages manually. I reverted all the manual moves; full saga explained here. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 08:19, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: To make consistent the naming of the subcategories of this tree in line with the rename of the parent done here. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 18:51, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please do. And if you find any subcats that I've missed, feel free to add them. I am busy this week and next so I probably won't get to them (if any) until mid-April. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 17:13, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 03:55, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Category has just one entry. WP:SMALLCAT applies but the fact is that the one entry's only link to Lafayette is that they work in the city. The article also states Ms. King as being from other parts of Indiana. Consensus has been on workers based out of a city- Sportspeople for instance- that just working somewhere doesn't make the person from the place ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 13:44, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's ratioanale: eight categories for one article: Corbeta Uruguay base, a 1976–82 Argentine military outpost on the British-held South Sandwich Islands.
The categories have not expanded since they were created in May 2013, and are unlikely to grow unless there is a massive expansion of en.wp coverage of the once-huge whaling operations in the South Sandwich Islands.
If and when that expansion happens, there may be a case for by-decade categories, but I doubt there could ever be enough to populate establishments-by-year and disestablishments-by-year. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:43, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
