The Utahraptor (2)

[edit]

The Utahraptor (talk · contribs · count) Hello, I'm The Utahraptor. I've been on Wikipedia for over a year and a half now. I have already had a review here, but since I was inactive for several months and have only been active for a couple months, I would like some feedback on my more recent contributions. Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
Lately, my primary contributions have been copy edits on behalf of the Guild of Copy Editors WikiProject. Thus far, I have copy edited six articles and 6,937 words. I haven't done much vandal fighting lately, but I do use Huggle every once in a while. I'm also working on Silver Reef, Utah; since it was promoted to Good Article status, I would like to get it promoted to Featured Article status.
  2. Have you been in editing disputes or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future? If you have never been in an editing dispute, explain how you would respond to one.
If you look back at my first editor review, you will see two content disputes I was in (for the second dispute, which is a red link, see this). Since then, I got into a dispute on the RfA talk page here. During my second RfA, it was brought up that I was acting uncivil in that discussion. I can see how people would think I was acting uncivil (tone is very hard to discern on the Internet), but, in my opinion, I was being as civil as I could be. What does the reviewer think?

That you were acting in an uncivil manner is a pure subjective matter, I believe you kept your cool in comparison to the prior linked disputes, though the manner with which you dealt with the accusation of plagiarism wasn't the best, your comment gave the impression that you were belittling the intelligence of the other involved party, in doing so it fuelled the dispute, however, the manner with which you resolved the dispute without having to resort to disciplinary action was good to see.

I can't really make any suggestions for improvement in the areas which you already work in, your copyediting and unfaltering anti-vandal edits are commendable, though I would suggest that you work in other administrative areas which take your fancy, like WP:RFP, WP:PERM and WP:UAA, extra experience and work are primary factors that are taken into consideration in RfA. That and composure, always have a calm and civil front, it doesn't matter if you are standing in the face of adversity, if you let off steam, however great or small, there will be repercussions. However, competence is required, if a user just doesn't get it, be frank but not aggressive.

Do keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing you around :) —James (TalkContribs) • 12:50pm 02:50, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To all potential reviewers, I would like a little more input before this page is archived. Thanks, The UtahraptorTalk/Contribs 00:27, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
