List of Andorra international footballers[edit]

List of Andorra international footballers (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Nominator(s): Kosack (talk) 19:57, 30 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am nominating this for featured list because I have created this article based upon two of my recent FL promotions (Azerbaijan and Wales). I believe this meets the same standards as those. I look forward to any comments. Kosack (talk) 19:57, 30 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  1. The article Andorra national football team is about the team as a whole and this list is about the individual players. There is plenty of room in the WP:LEAD to go into more detail about the players in order to make this distinction more readily apparent. The main article should perhaps also include a link to this list in the relevant section.
I'm not sure what more detail can be added here, the list is for players with 25+ caps rather than all Andorran internationals and the major records are included. This page has a similar prose size to the other six country FL lists and is actually larger than Israel and Scotland.
I'm mostly thinking about WP:FLCR 3(b) – this list should justify its existence as a separate list (in other words, why shouldn't it be merged into Andorra national football team?). I'd start by adding something about Koldo – that he was the goalkeeper for over a decade and has more caps than the other goalkeepers, and that he then became the manager, perhaps something else too (if there is anything more worth mentioning). @TompaDompa: I've expanded the opening somewhat so it's around a third bigger than it originally was. Kosack (talk) 20:06, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  2. "No." should use the ((abbr)) template per MOS:NUMERO. - Done
  3. The picture of Óscar Sonejee is not particularly high quality, so if there's a better photo available it should be replaced. I think the current one is better than nothing though, so it shouldn't be removed if there is no better alternative.
    No better alternative unfortunately.
  4. Óscar Sonejee held the all time appearance record until 2017. – I'd include the reference for this in the caption. I know it's in the WP:LEAD, but the reader shouldn't have to look for it. - Done
  5. Koldo being the manager seems to be unsourced. - Done

@TompaDompa: Thanks for the review, I've answered your queries above. Let me know your thoughts. Kosack (talk) 18:04, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for taking a look, I've dropped that small part now. Trying to work it in would have left the rest a bit muddled. Kosack (talk) 18:04, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • I think it's perfectly reasonable in this list's opening sentence to link Andorra. - Done
  • "was forced to wait " is there a reason for this "forced"? It feels like it needs explanation. - Hopefully made that a little clearer
  • "most capped player, accumulating 117 caps as " avoid repeating cap, maybe rephrase using "appearances" for one of them. Similar comment for the Koldo sentence. - Done
  • Link "friendly match" in the lead. - Done
  • In the key, link Goalkeeper to the same article you linked it to in the lead. - Done
  • The list of active players links to a section in the main article where it explains those listed are "The following players were called up for the 2018–19 UEFA Nations League matches against Georgia on 13 October and Kazakhstan on 16 October 2018.[24]", not "players who have not retired from international football and are, subsequently, eligible to be called up." How are these verified?
As with the other lists, unless there is a reference available to confirm a player's international retirement, any active player is regarded as still eligible. The Rsssf link also denotes which players it considers still active to aid that.
  • Looking at this list, " only player to have scored ten or more goals for the side" would be true if it said " only player to have scored five or more goals for the side". - Done
  • I'm never sure if we clarified that eu-football.info. and Soccerway were both RS, do you have anything to support those websites?
Soccerway is owned by the Perform Group who also own several other brands, including Opta Sports which is one of the biggest sports analytics companies around. Both sites are listed at WP:Football's recommended links and are widely used across football articles.

That's all I have. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:22, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
