List of international cricket centuries by AB de Villiers[edit]

List of international cricket centuries by AB de Villiers (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Nominator(s): The Rambling Man (talk), Zia Khan 17:24, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feels like cricket is taking over FLC right now, but that seems to be the way it goes from time to time. TRM has another, similar FLC running right now, which currently has three supports so he feels able to nominate this one. Zia Khan has done good work tidying it up as well, hence the co-nomination. We both look forward to the scrutiny of the community, and as ever thank you all for your time and energy. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:24, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you The Rambling Man, for considering me as co-nominator. I'll try my best to help you taking the list to FL status. Thanks again! Zia Khan 22:56, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is not strike rate, this is not out (102* is better than 102, same for 107)

Comments
  • I don't think that the country name is needed in the venue column.
  • Removed.
  • Why is the width length predefined? ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 10:47, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • What do you mean? I don't understand you.
  • Why have you set the widths for the columns? It seems to mess up the things. ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 14:33, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • The sentence "Despite making his first T20I appearance in 2006" is a little POV. Many players made their T20I debut in 2006 but didn't scored a century as a T20I century is rare.
  • This is not about other cricketers, this is just about him.

♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 10:47, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • But this is somewhat a criticizing sentence and is a possible BLP violation. In case if an another publication has used this, it should be include in the references. ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 14:33, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mild oppose
  • The second sentence of the second para is a little confusing. Instead of repeating England once again, rephrase the sentence like "during the same series" or something of that sort.
  • Pos. for his second Test hundred is 2.
  • Senwes Park Potchefstroom -> Senwes Park, Potchefstroom
  • Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is in which city?
  • Unbeaten doesn't sound encyclopedic.
    • It's standard cricket language. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:52, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • Someone who is unfamiliar with cricket might not clearly understand. Even hard-core cricket followers get confused between a batsman staying unbeaten till the end of the innings and carrying the bat at times. Vensatry (Ping me) 13:04, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • His 58-ball century is actually ninth in the list.
  • He has scored centuries while leading the team too.
Alright, I was a little confused over the usage of double-dagger in this list. In other lists it's the other way around. Vensatry (Ping me) 10:41, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sort the cats alphabetically.
    • No need, where is that required? The Rambling Man (talk) 20:50, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • Pardon me, there is no such rule. Just got this idea when a couple of editors reviewing my lists asked me to do the same. However, the relevant guideline says that it's quite essential to sort them in such a way that most significant categories appear first. Vensatry (Ping me) 13:04, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
        • Do you think they're not in significant order? If not, perhaps you should suggest the order you'd prefer. The Rambling Man (talk) 15:44, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
          • I was just highlighting that. The word significance is highly subjective in these type of lists. The present order looks fine. Vensatry (Ping me) 17:02, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
            • The categories are already in alphabetical order, aren't they? Zia Khan 21:56, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm pretty much sure that SAF lost the game where he made 114* against India. Check for others too.
  • While there are a few errors in the table which wouldn't take much time rectifying them, the prose is really not so engaging. It's not so good as we expected from you when compared with other lists. Vensatry (Ping me) 17:45, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ok, done all the above (bar the cats comments, if there's a policy which says we need them alphabetical, then please show me, otherwise, no reason to change), but will also look at tweaking the lead to impress you further. Thanks for your comments! The Rambling Man (talk) 21:02, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vesantry, anything more? The Rambling Man (talk) 15:19, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Waiting for your c/e (lede). Vensatry (Ping me) 03:44, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:56, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Additional comments
  • As of February 2013, he has scored 13 Test centuries -> he has scored 15 Test centuries.
  • In his fifteen ODI centuries, De Villiers has scored the ninth-fastest century, you mean to say that this was the ninth fastest among his fifteen ODI centuries?
