List of international goals scored by Vivianne Miedema[edit]

List of international goals scored by Vivianne Miedema (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Nominator(s): Edwininlondon (talk) 16:26, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am nominating this for featured list because I think it has reached the quality of similar lists, such as List of international goals scored by Robin van Persie and List of international goals scored by Abby Wambach. I look forward to your comments. Edwininlondon (talk) 16:26, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • The lead has six paragraphs, most of which are very short. These would be better consolidated into three.
  • "extended her lead of the men's team's leading scorer" - don't think "of" is the right word there, "over" would be better
  • Also might be worth noting how many RVP actually scored, for context
  • "In 91 appearances for the senior national team as of December 2020, Miedema scored 70 goals" => "In 91 appearances for the senior national team as of December 2020, Miedema has scored 70 goals" (unless her international career is over, which I don't believe is the case)
  • Ref column should not be sortable
  • Not sure there needs to be a dot after each number in the goal column
  • Why is the table collapsible? Never seen that before in an article where the table is essentially the entire contents......?
  • Think that's it from me, great work! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 17:32, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for your comments. I think have addressed them all. Edwininlondon (talk) 07:18, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • The table needs a caption and scope col/rows, as per WP:DTAB.
  • Refs 14 and 15 need accessdates.

Just a quick run through for now, as these two points stood out. Kosack (talk) 07:09, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for reviewing. I added a table caption. Do you happen to know of a good example to copy the scope col/rows from? I now have what is used on List of international goals scored by Robin van Persie, but I'mnot sure if that is right, since that one doesn't have a caption. Edwininlondon (talk) 08:43, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Edwininlondon: I have done the first row - just follow that format -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 09:23, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for helping me, much appreciated. I believe the table is now ok as per WP:DTAB.
Thanks for helping out Chris. Kosack (talk) 15:32, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • "scoring all the goals in the two-leg final", all the goals reads a little oddly. Perhaps "all three of her side's goals"?
    Done.
  • "Miedema scored four goals, including important goals", a little repetitive with the double use of goals perhaps, especially with the next sentence using it as well.
I changed it into "Miedema scored four times, crucially in the semi-final win over England and in the final"
  • I'm not 100% certain, but I believe we're supposed to use United States rather than simply US, certainly when referring to the nation individually as is done here.
Well, it seems anything goes according to MOS:ABBREVIATIONS, but I changed it into United States. It does indeed read better that way, plus the link is easier to click now.
  • Probably worth linking penalty kick.
    Done.

A few more from a better read through, but that's it from me I think. Kosack (talk) 15:45, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • "has been playing" -> "has played"
    Done
  • "One month later she scored" note here that it was her second cap.
    Done
  • "did not score.." as the Netherlands failed to progress....?
    Done
  • "crucially" feels a bit POV.
    Done
  • "finals.[10] At the finals " repetitive.
    Done
  • "whose goal tally stood at 50" was van Persie still playing? If not, maybe "who scored 50 goals before retiring in..."?
Done. He never really retired from the international team. He played his last match in 2017. I left it at "who scored 50 goals before retiring."
  • "did not manage to score" remove "manage to".
    Done
  • There's a more specific link for penalty kick.
    Done
  • No need for the bold text in the Score column.
    Done
  • Scorelines in the refs should not be spaced en-dashes.
    Done
  • Worth archiving some of the links which will no doubt go dead or be reused, such as ref 11.
Done. Not all, but quite a few.
  • "2021 UEFA Women's Euro qualification" isn't this now 2022?
    Yes, indeed. Fixed.
  • We usually see summary tables for these kinds of articles, such as goals scored per year, goals scored per opponent etc.
Done. I copied List of international goals scored by Robin van Persie

That's all I have for now. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 12:57, 2 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
