NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship[edit]

NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Nominator(s):  MPJ -DK  06:52, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am nominating this for featured list because I believe it fullfills all the criterias for FL, I've taken what I've learned from previous successful FL nominations. Re: Redlink - there is currently one red-link article which I intend to write ASAP, the rest of the names are unlinked because I could only find one fact on each of them and that's the fact that they won this title, otherwise nothing. I believe they're not notable enough to be linked.  MPJ -DK  06:52, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "in the National Wrestling Alliance's" just "in the NWA's.."
  • Fixed
  • "Due to its history, it has been considered the most important title in EMLL/CMLL." is this specifically referenced, and more than once?
  • Well it is listed as the most important EMLL/CMLL title in the general source, I've seen it stated at times when describing certain wrestlers winning the title when I've researched for their articles. I could find one or two specific mentions to go with the general reference.  MPJ -DK  19:48, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Found two additional citations - one on Dixon mentioning he won the title "that would become the most important title in EMLL for many years" and Dr. Wagner won "the top title". That should cover it.  MPJ -DK  07:35, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • "of a storyline.The" space needed.
  • Fixed.
  • "higest " typo.
  • Fixed.
  • " Empressa Mexican de Lucha Libre (later renamed CMLL)" - first you've already abbreviated to EMLL and secondly you've already told us this was renamed.
  • what are "booking rights"?
  • Well to be honest they're "the rights to book title matches", but I changed it to the simpler term "control",
  • "in the mid-1980s; From then" just "from" not "From" after the ;
  • Fixed.
  • " El Texano, Jr's" needs a . after Jr to be consistent with the previous sentence.
  • Fixed.
  • Entries with an en-dash need to sort as if they're zero.
  • Mendoza seems to have a value for days held in the second table but not the first. Be consistent.
  • It is consistent both with previous FLs and with the explanations in the key - one title reign does not have a precise date so in cumulative the lowest possible date is used to "err on the side of caution" for cumulative. Individual reigns with no definite length is a note and sorts by lowest date. It's the generally acceptable format for wrestling championship lists.  MPJ -DK  19:36, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • So this list will be updated in 14 days when the current champ goes ahead of Raul Mata in the combined reign table?
  • Well naturally the article will be updated when something changes, just like if someone else won the title or if it was abandoned, sold or anything else - normal Wikipedia maintenance.
  • Ref 2 should be p not pp

The Rambling Man (talk) 19:00, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Championship vacated when Shocker left CMLL to join Asistencia Asesoría y Administración; he does not show up for a scheduled title defense[6]" why not "he did not appear in a scheduled title defense"? Or similar? And you need a period there.
  • Already rewritten.
  • "<the championship " typo.
  • Fixed
  • Some notes have refs, some don't, some blank cells have refs, some don't, this appears a little strange to me.
  • Well two notes need references because it's not covered by the reference provided in the table row or the general references for title history up until 2000, so those that need it have references. And as the general reference covers up until 2000 nothing before that needs an explicit source, everything after needs a source for the information on the title change, which is then placed in the "Notes" column, irregardles of there being a note or not. What you call strange is just sourcing the information.
  • "The exact length of at least one title reign is uncertain, so the shortest possible length is used" that also applies in the first table where you have uncertain reigns, so the note should apply in both places.
  • Not in the same form, a comment on why some lengths have "Notes" and not numbers could be needed and I can add that.
  • Footnote 1 and the general footnote lack references.
  • Footnote 1 has the reference in the text, next to the footnote, I could not make it work inside the footnote tag for some reason. I will reference the general one.
  • Don't mix date formats in the references.
  • Done.
  • What makes that external link "wrestling-titles.com" reliable?

  • "It began as an official National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) title and title was given to the NWA's Mexican affiliate, Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre (EMLL) to control." Remove the second "title" after "and". It reads better without it.--WillC 02:26, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fixed
  • "The title remained under the control of EMLL even after EMLL pulled out of the Alliance and changed its name to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL)." Delink "Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre"--WillC 02:26, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fixed
  • "Defeated Al Kashley to win the vacant championship." This isn't a complete sentence but it has a period. Would be better to make sure all notes are complete sentences so they make better sense, or remove periods from them.--WillC 02:26, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fixed
  • There is still an inconsistency in the table with the notes. Some incomplete, some complete, some incomplete with periods, etc. Would be better to just have one style.--WillC 19:09, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Caption says Shocker had the 58th and 62nd reigns, but the table shows 57th and 61st.
  • "and was given to the NWA's Mexican affiliate, Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre (EMLL) to control." Comma after (EMLL).
  • Hyphen for "NWA mandated"?
  • "control of the championship from 1958." Should probably be "in 1958."
  • Comma after Dory Dixon.
  • Why is Los Angeles linked twice in the lead. And what does "the title was also defended in the Los Angeles, California area until it closed in the mid-1980s" mean? Did a promotion shut down or something? Also, I don't think the state needs to be repeated in the lead.
  • Note" "Vampiro defeated Tarzan Boy in decision match for the vacant title." Missing "a" before "decision match". Same for Gypsy Joe and Dr. Wagner notes.

Support – Meets FL standards. Giants2008 (27 and counting) 23:06, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Support. I see no other issues.—NMajdantalk 17:09, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
