Rosenborg BK in Europe[edit]

Rosenborg BK in Europe (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Nominator(s): Arsenikk (talk) 11:33, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rosenborg is the most successful football team in Europe from Norway, particularly during the late 1990s and 2000s. The following list presents Rosenborg's achievements and matches in UEFA tournaments and hopefully also meets the criteria for a featured list. Arsenikk (talk) 11:33, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comments some openers...
  • Should the lead say "Rosenborg BK" rather than "Ballklub"? Or should the title of the article be changed?
    • 'Ballklubb' is the full official name, which for convenience is provided this once for the readers; I have no problem instead just using 'Rosenborg BK' at that point. Note that 'Rosenborg Ballklubb' is a redirect to 'Rosenborg BK'. The abbreviated use of title seems to have been used by all articles currently at FL and the use of abbreviated team names seems to be universally for European football teams. • "The team has participated 29 seasons in " -> participated in 29 seasons of...
  • "UEFA Cup and Europa Leageu," typo.
  • Opening para has "Rosenborg has..." twice in a row, makes for tedious reading.
  • "The clubs first appearance was..." -> "The club's first European appearance was.."
  • "entered tournaments seven seasons until 1974–75" -> "tournaments in seven seasons.."
  • "Rosenborg has since entered UEFA tournaments every seasons, with the exception of the 2006–07 season..." -> "Since then, Rosenborg has be involved in UEFA tournament every season except the ...."
  • "The club plays their home matches" - you stuck with singular all the way through the first para so this should be "plays its home matches"
  • "it has a capacity for 21,116 spectators" odd English, maybe "it has a capacity of 21,116." or "it can host 21,116 spectators"?
  • "while with 27 goals, Harald Martin Brattbakk has scored the most goals" maybe "while Harald Martin Brattbakk has scored the most goals with 27."
  • "Rosenborg's most frequent opposing teams..." -> Rosenborg have played x, y, z six time, more than any other team...
  • "Total" row should be fixed at the bottom of the table so it doesn't sort. I seem to recall List of Ipswich Town F.C. records and statistics has the code for this in the European stats section....
  • Image captions - I don't particularly like "vs." in prose. Perhaps "playing against"?
  • Matches table has incomplete rows (refs missing) for 93/94 Austria Wien {and that must be wrong too, should be 93 and 93!} and the 94/94 Deportivo de La Coruna match.
  • No need for ref columns to be sortable.
  • Ref col has more than one ref so could be Ref(s)
  • The "By club" doesn't include two or more match ups because, for example, Bayer Leverkeusen should be there, having been played twice last year. It must be three or more games...
    • May have been a misunderstand from my side, as the intension is that the table lists teams Rosenborg has met at two different double-match setups or more. I've tweaked the formulation slightly. Arsenikk (talk) 19:22, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Statistics are as of the end of the 2010–11 and include" missing a word after the year range.

I'll need another complete run-through but this is a start for you. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:40, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback and improvements. All the issues have been seen to except the first which I have commented on. Arsenikk (talk) 19:22, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comments
  • "The team has participated 29 seasons of...". Missing "in" after "participated".
  • Add "the" in the middle of "qualifying via Champions League"?
  • "Since then, Rosenborg has be involved in UEFA tournament every season except the 2006–07 season." Really in rough shape here prose-wise. Typo ("be" → "been") and a missing "a" before UEFA.
  • "Rosenborg's record attendance in an European match of 22,492...". "an" → "a".
  • I see "Rosenborg has" and "Rosenborg have" in the lead. Please be consistent with whether the club is plural or singular.
  • Typo in the photo of the Valencia match: "aginst".
  • By club: "The following list is shows statistics against opposing teams...". Remove "is".
  • UEFA should be spelled out as the publisher in numerous references. Giants2008 (27 and counting) 20:27, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking the time to comment on the article; all has been seen to. Arsenikk (talk) 22:39, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

*Leaning support I have made a few minor edits, and overall this is a well composed list (my general reservation about "... in Europe" notwithstanding). A couple of small things:
    • Just to clarify, was the 2002 work an expansion, or was it work to convert a standing area into a seated one?
      • The one stand was definitively expanded, the short sides were rebuilt from a grass standing area to a proper stand. Overall capacity for UEFA matches increased, for domestic league matches probably formally decreased, so I changed to "rebuilt" just to be on the safe side.
